Board: /qst/

"/qst/ - Quests" is 4chan's imageboard for grinding XP.

Welcome to /quest/ - Quests

This board is for author-driven collaborative storytelling (i.e., "Quests"). In a quest there is a single author who controls the plot of the story and who drives the creative process. They can choose to take suggestions from other posters, or not, at their sole discretion. Quests can be text-based, image-based, or a combination of the two. Drawfaggotry is strongly encouraged!

To facilitate the author-driven nature of quests, /qst/ differs significantly from other boards in that the OP of a thread is considered the quest's author, and has some basic text formatting abilities: [b], [i], and color tags [red], [green], and [blue]. Therefore, only those people willing to put in the effort to be a quest author should post threads. If you do not intend to run a collaborative story, do not post a thread here! This includes meta-threads.

Dice rolling follows /tg/'s format (e.g., "dice+2d6" without the quotes in the options field rolls 2d6).

One Piece Bounty Photographer Quest

What do you call someone who graduates last from medical school? Doctor.

What do you call someone who graduates last from the Marine Officer Academy? Ensign. And yeah, that would be you.

Honestly, you’re kind of surprised you even managed to scrape the bare minimum needed to pass the Academy. The only thing you’re really decent at is

> navigation.
> memorizing laws and regulations.
> stealth (mostly to avoid duties).

Despite this, the Marines are apparently still desperate in the nearly two decades since Gold Rogers died - and even you, the absolute dregs of this year’s class, are now holding your assigned position, which you pull out of its envelope and read with wariness.

Loguetown? Well, that’s good - the Grand Line is dangerous, and of all the Blues, East is safest. Sure, Loguetown is where pirates pass through to get to the Grand alone, but that doesn’t mean they’re strong enough to actually make it. And -

You re-read your letter of assignation again, slower this time. You’re not assigned under the local Marine base there - instead, you’re to be an independently functioning (and extremely long-distance) subordinate of the Bounty Department.

‘Your photography equipment will be provided by the Department,’ the letter adds, which explains everything except how the hell YOU were chosen for this job... except it does, doesn’t it? You’re no good at fighting or sailing, but even an idiot can take pictures, right?

Someone needs to track down and take photographs of criminals for their bounty posters. And now, that someone is you.

(Do Ctrl F and type in Akire if you want to find where I start)

Issue #2, A Day In A Life

>What's this?
A shitty fan-fiction quest where you play as Hermann Schmidt in the Worm universe. I won't babble much, but your power basically allows you to make anything you want, but with the condition that it's super shitty in the beginning and you have to improve it.

Without further ado, OPEN THE GAME!

Worm Quest:Redux #2

I return once more, unmarred by car; man or beast.
Last time on Worm Quest you...

>Joined the Wards
>Made some friends
>...r abusive dad got ganked by the ghosts of racism past; present and future, all at once.
>Fought tooth and nail with the local Protectorate leader to get your brother a transfer out of a really shit school and into a nice one. Going so far as to insinuate you'd join villains if that's what it took.
>Made some cool shit.
>Aced a few tests.
>And went to talk to the quiet kid from your chem class pastebin of stuff.
James is his name, you've heard it when the teacher called for attendance. (An oddity in your old school, rarely practiced by your teachers.) And he peaked your interest mainly due to the look of confusion and intense concentration on his face. A look you find rather confusing regarding the total absence of any last minute homework or tricky calculus stuff in front of him. Even if there was any, you doubt he'd need your help with it, the guy is seriously smart. Apparently he's in the top class for pretty much everything.

So naturally, you decide to butt in where you aren't wanted and try your darnedest to "help". That's what heroes do right? Probably make whatever pre-existing problem there is way worse?

The boy himself is fairly tall and well muscled, with maybe a few inches on you. His hair is a dark brown and his eyes are the same, set under furrowed brows..

You sit down opposite him with a quick "Hey." and a sunny smile that's swiftly becoming second nature to you. "You look kinda frazzled man, what's up?

He lifts his head to look at you, face becoming unnervingly blank as he seems to stare right through you for a second.
"Do you need help with something?"
The curt response kinda throws you off, on the other hand though he sounds legitimately curious, so you take what he's saying at face value.

"No, uh. That's what I came to ask you... "

He purses his lips and looks back down for a second before shrugging, the somewhat confused expression returning to his face.
"I... am having difficulty figuring something out. I've been placed in a difficult position and I have received conflicting advice from the two sources I would consider most trustworthy. Compounding that is the fact that either course of action I might take will put me at risk of harm. Minor harm, more of an annoyance really, but harm nonetheless."
James looks back to you, one hand spinning a fork around his fingers.
"My natural inclinations are not do anything, but my position is uncertain. Action might be preferable, but would put me at certain risk. I don't know what is best."

Where are you
>It has been 8 hours since disaster.

Italy. The year is 2019.
2 particular individuals have gone to the boot shaped peninsula nation on vacation, expecting to finally get respite from the usual mystery solving they typically do. It's exciting and fun, sure, but anyone'd get bored of it after a while.

You have rented a literal mansion with the extraordinary amount of payment you have received during your exploits, despite its creepiness. Mainly due to it being the only house available in this area in this time of year.
After making yourselves at home, you and your pet best friend, Scooby Doo, prepared to turn in. You deserve this. Both of you.

You are Shaggy Rogers, and you just want to live a quiet life.

Valen Quest 70

"Yo!" Marchovic's sharktoothed grin greeted you under the morning light, its mirth mirrored in the bright eyes of the little Luna Representative you'd invited along on this little venture. A cute and entirely unassuming way to refer to the bloody manhunt it was actually set to be. "Took your sweet time gettin' here, didn'tcha? And this must be..." The Shade Representative stepped up, looming in front of the elder hunter and trapper you'd elected to bring along. He was a man who'd seen a lot in his day, and one who didn't quail under Marchovic's gaze as they sized each other up.

"Gehr." He introduced himself, looking over the significantly younger man before him. "I've some experience in trapping."

The Shade Representative's lips peeled back. "Oh that sounds awesome, tell me about traps!"

Cutting him a look out of the edge of your eye, you stepped past the two as they devolved into trading stories of their experiences on this or that side of a trap and grinned at Mim despite yourself. There'd been no shortage of second thoughts about inviting her along. She was, for all her power, a child - One that was about to use said power to aid in a manhunt.

But you would be lying if you said it was her age which made you wary. She was... A friend. Possibly the first real friend you'd made who wasn't bound to you in some sort of obligational duty or contract. You'd screwed up twice with her already, too unused to the steps in this dance, but you'd kept making up. It was that awkward scramble to keep tjhis fragile and newly tread ground that you'd invited her to, quite literally, come kill people with you and Marchovic... In retrospect that was a terrible way to spend time together. It had been an incredibly stupid thing to ask. Mim was gentle, and if anything happened to her on this trip you'd never forgive yourself for it.

And yet telling her you'd changed your mind would have been terrible. Equally terrible? You don't know. You don't want to find out. She'd already said yes, and even shown up today, determined to come along. As a Luna Adept - As one favored more by the Mana of knowledge than any other in the region - You knew that she knew what she was getting into. What this trip was going to entail. What would most likely happen. You knew she knew. It didn't set you any more at ease.

Wrath of the Speed Freeks Edition

After receiving a challenge from your crew's nemesis, Warboss Dakkajaw, the Rogue Trader Regiment traveled to meet him on the Deathworld Urruk. Once reaching the surface, the local Hive had sent you a transmission, tasking the Rogue Trader Crew to assist the PDF in recovering a shipment of armor hundreds of kilometers off the mark of the Imperial Hive City. Not long after the lot of you began moving the Imperial tanks, were you beset by a preemptive spearhead of Ork Lootas! Now the chase is on as the crew attempts to get the reinforcements safely back to the Hive City before Dakkajaw's next move.

>What is this?
This is a Free-form roleplay set in the grim darkness of the far future of Warhammer 40,000. It follows the (often times) heretical adventures of a Regiment of Imperial guardsmen which have been recruited by a Rogue Trader after the death of their inquisitor boss, recovering artifacts, fighting Xenos and chaos forces, and attempting to keep themselves from being launched out of the airlock for pissing off their boss.

>When do you guys make these threads?
Usually Saturdays at 11:30am Eastern Standard Time. Although we'll often make a new thread throughout the week, if we hit the bump limit early on

>Can I join in?
Sure, just think of a character and have fun! So long as such a character isn't considered over powered or unrealistic (I.e. a Tyranid, a Tyranid's brain inside the body of a Mechanicus magos, or something that wouldn't realistically be assigned to a penal regiment) No Space Marines.

>Can I have multiple characters?
Yes, so long as you don't use them to powerplay. Only one character allowed in combat.

>How do you play?
We tend to use spoilers for OOC chat, and greentexts for describing a character's actions, but nothing is set in stone.
We use d20 rolls for combat checks and d100s for other things you may wish to roll for (I.e psychic powers, ability checks, saving throws, ect, ect...) With higher rolls being considered better.
We also have a Discord server if you'd like to join us there:

Fate/City Akeldama Chapter 2

Going up the tiled stairs, open-air flies past you, as if to take refuge from whatever there is outside. The door to the roof is gone, and with it, the view of your Servant.

Caster is lazing about; playing with her hands, she creates a small pattern with her webs. Even to the modern day, she proves that her skill as a weaver is extraordinary.

You walk from out of the destroyed passageway. The platform that you're traversing is laden with bullet marks, engraved into Judas' world.

"Is there something you need?" Caster said, surprising you. She didn't need to turn around.

> [ ] "I thought that I'll hang out with you, now with Edelfelt still being upset."
> [ ] "I want your advice on something."
> [ ] "Uh...You did great out there."

Paranormal Agent Quest #9

>Back from hell and reporting for duty.

“Thanks for the food,” you say, actually pretty grateful, “It was good.”

“Glad you enjoyed it,” she says, affecting a curtsey and murmuring something in French that you won’t pretend to understand. You blink, and fix her with a look, curious. The ponytail seems like a weird change considering…

“Wait…” you murmur, raising a hand in puzzlement, “You didn’t make that yourself, did you?”

She cocks an eyebrow at you and you think you see the corner of her mouth twitch.

“Does it truly matter?”

“Well, kind of,” you shrug, “I mean, I’d probably feel obliged to compliment your culinary skills for one thing.”

She titters, leaning over as if to stifle it from becoming a bark of laughter, “Perhaps you would. And in such an event, I’d probably feel quite flattered at the compliment.”

“You know, it really isn’t that big of a deal,” you say, working your jaw around, “If it was you: thank you for making it. Even if it wasn’t: thank you for bringing me everything anyway.”

“You’re welcome,” she says, her smirk now giving way to a soft grin before she picks up the tray with the empty plate and glasses and turning on her heel, sauntering out of the ward.

“I wouldn’t chat for too long,” she says over her shoulder as she leaves, “You do need your rest, after all.”

You refrain from asking what the point of all that was. You doubt you’d get a straight answer and, for now, that’s okay. Maybe she’s been playing this whole spy game for so long that she just can’t help herself. Or maybe she just likes screwing with people. You’re certain you won’t find out any time soon.

“So, she is gone,” says Iszolda, startling you. Quite honestly, you’d forgotten she was even there, so quiet she’s been, “We are alone. There are no prying eyes or ears. I would appreciate hearing what you have to say, please.”

>Christ, you actually have nothing better to do, do you?
>Fine. I guess I did say that I’d tell you.
>Why are you so determined to pursue this, anyway?

Orc Civilization Quest - Part 2

For generations your people lived an unchanged, savage life in the mountains, little different from the animals you hunted. Yet recently, that is something that has changed. With threat of advanced outsiders, 4 tribes of Orcs have banded together to form a confederation of sorts, and with the arrival of new inventions such as agriculture and more advanced stone tools, things seem to be changing faster than ever. What shall be the fate of the Orcs in the future? Shall they continue to live and advance? Or shall they be destroyed, annihilated, reduced to mere history? Only time will tell...

Current Stats:

Current Stats:
72 (4 tribes)
>Culture and Art: Primitive. Other than the occasional inspired set of scratchings on a rock or cave wall, your people have no art to speak of. A warrior caste is present, composed out of the strongest and greatest fighters in the confederation, but other than that and a tradition of sled riding, there is very little that could be considered "culture" in your people. Of clothes there are none, with tribespeople mainly wandering about naked, although it hasn't been for lack of trying.
>The People: Your people organise themselves into tribes, each of which has an individual chieftain and each of which is considered equal in your confederation Although there is somewhat of a general tendency towards selfishness and cruelty amongst Orcs, your people have rejected this in favour of a strong fraternity culture, seeing their fellow confederates more as brothers than anything else. Ethnically, they tend to bear skin of an ashy grey tone of varying darkness, and hair is thin and lank, generally coming in dark shades of black or brown and left mostly unstyled. Curiously, distinctive icy blue eyes are also rather common amongst the Orcs in your confederation, although essentially absent in most outsider tribes.
>Technology: Your people make use of a variety of advanced stone tools, including spears, pickaxes, hammers and handaxes. Fungiwood sleds are also used, both to drag around goods and also to take risky rides down the mountainside. In terms of homes, your people inhabit cave dwellings sometimes lined with grass bedding, with little in the way of true architecture.
>Magic: None. Although there are tales of great sages able to perform wondrous deeds, and the occasional tribesperson who even attempts to pass themselves off as one, your people generally live without any magic in their lives, with some even doubting its existence, if they bother to think of it much at all.
>Food: Abundant. Your people practise a primitive form of agriculture revolving around the fungi that grow in the nearby caves, and supplement their diet with some level of foraging and hunting. A basic system of rationing is also enforced to allow food stores to last for longer, and ensure everyone gets a share.

Do Your Best Quest #62

[6:45 PM]

“Uh, guys?! We’re in big trouble! One of the Crystal pieces is coming our way — and there’s a fuckhuge monster chasing after it!” Yu Yan’s words echo stronger than ever! “Guys, fuck Control Room C! We’re going back inside! Clinic Patrol or whatever, stop that Crystal from coming in here or else that shit is going to wreck us—!”

Is the monster targeting the Crystal holder, or something else…? Doesn’t matter, your team needs to do something about it! Kazuchika Storgaard wasn’t the only threat today!

The communication cuts out and Nina’s voice takes over. “Ehem! Clinic Patrol, move to main entrance ASAP. Do not engage in combat. Repeat; Do NOT engage in combat! Henry, move to bunker entrance in case we need reinforcements. Yu Yan, Amelia, keep relaying info but stay out of trouble. Leave the cat there if you must. Go, go, go!” It’s nice to hear Nina so motivated again after Osgood died – you only wish it were at a better time than this!

“Let’s move, we’re Clinic Patrol!” You run towards the main entrance and hear your OG hobo barely keeping pace. Boopies meows excitedly on your shoulder, but you don’t pay much attention. Soon enough, Nariko’s footsteps grow distant behind you as you burst into the deserted clinic lobby. Only the receptionist is here, looking up at you rushing in.

“W-wait!” Nariko’s still far down the hall where you came from, trying to catch up.

Every second counts! What do you do?!

>Block the front doors with Philonune! Leave that trouble outside!
>Wait for Nariko, use Boopies to ask for orders while you have time!
>Open the doors, look outside, then close them quickly. Just to see…
>Write In.

Lost Mister - A Cyber Dystopia adventure

I am bored and sick anons, and I haven't written anything in a long while, so help me with my warm-up and boredom would ya?

The Desert of Sorrows. Or Desert of Forlorn Glory? No, maybe Desert of Shattered Dreams. Nah, too long. Well, you'll have plenty of time naming the desert, seeing as it is an endless expanse of desolation, sand, and rocks as far as the eye can see. And your eyes can see very far indeed. After all, you were a first-class sniper. Or scout? It couldn't have been secretary, right?

Anyway, you were first-class something among the agents of the Sanatorium!
You shake your head again, that can't be right. But the name eludes you no matter how hard you try. You were definitely talented at something you didn't just make that up. This blasted desert. These blasted memories. These blasted dysfunctioning cybernetics on low-power mode! If you only remembered how you got here in the first place!

You close your eyes, trying to focus on what you were. Doing.

>A) Trying to assess your abilities
>B) Trying to find out where you are
>C) Trying to find out how you got here
>D) Write-in

FUCK QUEST 3, Episode 2: "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Mama, Part 2"

You are Alabaster Soliloquy, kabedon kommando and bodysnatcher-catcher.

-Alex and Sable had a clandestine meeting. Sable wants to destroy Darkbloom Analytics to keep the power of Sand Reckoner out of the company's hands. Alex is only partly on board with the plan.
-Cerise awoke from her lengthy catatonia, but something was amiss.
-The whole gang got together for a dinner - one that didn't even end in a food fight.
-Rose produced evidence that Camelia's doppelganger is more than just a doppelganger: she was in possession of a flash drive that Camelia used to blackmail you during the events of last year.
-Galatea and Cerise reunited, a moment you arranged.
-Meanwhile, you spent the night with Whitney and her mother, Dr. Carte. It was an interesting chance to broaden your horizons.
-You're a virile young man. With hardly any refractory period to worry about, you were able to stop at Galatea's for another encounter with her and Cerise.
-In the morning, you discussed the reappearance of Camelia with the two of them, but they have the same false memory of Camelia as a different person that everyone else does.
-At work, Vivian and Whitney discussed potential buyouts of startups, and neither of them seem to have good sense when it comes to these things...
-When you took Cerise home, you reviewed the family photo album with her. At least this much is consistent: you both remember the same woman being your mother.
-Cerise's implant glitched out. She briefly lost consciousness; and when she woke up, she wasn't Cerise anymore. She was David Darkbloom.
-Post-episode, we saw some Valentines Day flashbacks containing scenes with Rose2, Vivian and Dr. Carte, Noelle, and Rose.

Spider-Verse Quest #3

spiderverse quest
Thursday May 15th, 1986, New York City
>Spider-Verse, Issue Three: Thriller

The last two days have been nerve-wracking, if only because of the light tension between you and Harry. Sure, the two of you laugh and joke all the same when you're at school, but afterwards is a different story altogether. Sin-Eater was still out there, still potentially preparing to kill a victim, and for the last two days Osborn has been chomping at the bit to take him down. You on the other hand, have had other things in mind for your preparation for taking him down.

Wednesday night was spent making use of your adaptive camouflage and breaking into the man's home, thankfully made easier by your wall-climbing abilities. The capability to just crawl in through the window simplified the risk in your eyes, especially as you jimmied open the window lock and investigated his apartment with a light step. His name is Stanley Carter, and you're pretty sure he's a bit of a deeper character than you might have thought at a first glance. His personal effects had among them a staggering array of firearms, most of them illegal in New York to own, and a prodigious arrangement of knives and other close quarters weaponry.

Beyond that, the S.H.I.E.L.D. stationary you find among his letters points at some sort of connection between them, but again you're not entirely sure. The letter was, fittingly, coded. You're good, but you're not that good quite yet to crack it so quickly, and Stanley likely would have noticed the absence of his things. He's a fastidious man, clear from your observations of him in and out of costume, but you're starting to paint a clearer picture in your mind of him. The story was there, and yet it needed a suitable ending.

Thankfully, you had some help on that front as Thursday night rolled around, and the Trifreakta sat assembled outside of his building in Harry's car.

"Everyone knows their roles?" Bruce asked, sitting attentively in the backseat. He was the mastermind of this plan after being filled in, being absent the day before from your activities. Apparently, he was making some good headway on that hideout of yours, though as usual he was keeping his cards close to his chest.

PantheonQuest II

One moment you weren't. The next you were. Brought into reality by the mere will of your worshipers. A rare people without an established Pantheon. Born into a world where Gods roam the earth, mythical creatures are still plentiful and magic is more common than proper hygiene. You are a God. One of many. Yet you are still alone. It is up to you to build a pantheon, gain worshipers and become powerful. You are born.

PantheonQuest II is a reinvigorated version of PantheonQuest, a short lived quest that ran pretty well, though I sadly let it die. The players control a God in a mythical realm filled to the brim with mystery.

God sheet:

Name: Quite simply, the name of the Diety
Appearance: The form the Diety takes in the mortal world
Sigil: A holy symbol, associated with the Diety
Major Sphere: The sphere which the Diety has most control of, and the one which defines it. The more obscure a sphere, the more power a Diety will be able to exercise over it (eg. a God of War might slightly skew the odds of battle, yet a God of Mushrooms may grow mushrooms as much as they please)
Minor Sphere: A smaller, less important sphere which the Diety has control of. More may be gained during the game
Dwelling: The abode of your God in the mortal world. A grand castle, a dark cave, the sewers of a city, anything you can think of.

Name: Liliana
Appearance: A fair maiden with golden hair, covered in flowers
Sigil: A rose and tulip intertwined
Major Sphere: Flowers
Minor Sphere: Beauty
Dwelling: A castle made of petals on a gargantuan lily pad

The suggestion with the most votes will win.

Traditional Evolution Game part 5.5: Get out of my swamp edition

Welcome to Traditional Evolution Game, part 5.5! In this thread, we will take a look at the ecosystem of Infecturran. The rules of the game are as follows:
1. Find a creature that is still alive
3. Paste the creature in a pixel editor program like MSPaint
4. Make a noticeable mutation for them that makes sense and is not too major
5. Add necessary format either in description or within its picture, please follow format shown below this post for this
5. Post evo here, with a description of what changed

Now, for do's/don'ts
DO post no matter how shitty your art is! WE NEED YOU! It's not that hard to edit in paint, just do your best!
DO try to use the pencil tool instead of brushes, as it will make it easier to edit linework and recolour
DON'T mutate the same creature over twice in a row! There'll be plenty of family lines in need of love.
DON'T overdo mutations. A creature doesn't suddenly grow legs, intellect and fire-breathing.
DON’T forget the format, otherwise people won’t know where your creature is from or what it eats etc.
DON’T forget to link back to creature you have evolved when posting
DON’T forget to have fun, and don’t forget to post, more players and less lurkers is what will keep this alive
Again, without further ado, let us begin!

Dead Man's Hand 2 [Skirmish]

dead man's hand op
Far away from the ancient lands of the East lies the untamed expanse of the West, the wild, magnificent, chaotic lands of violence and struggle, yearning and despair. Deserts and forests, mountains and valleys, a vast wilderness populated only by scattered bands of folk: settler towns, cowboys, native villages, and long dusty roads. Here in the West, there is freedom and danger, life and death, and every man has a chance to make his name or die trying.

They say that once a legendary gunslinger was shot at the card table while holding a pair of eights and aces. Ever since then people have avoided playing that hand with a superstitious dread. But there comes a day for every man when he must meet the Reaper, and pass through his gate. Out here in the West, you never know when it might be you who gets dealt the dead man's hand.

Saiyan Conqueror Quest 77

Twelve years ago, the warrior race known as the Saiyans were annexed into Emperor Freeza’s army. Since that fateful day, the Saiyans have earned their title of warrior race as Freeza’s most powerful soldiers, leading the charge onto hundreds of worlds and destroying those who oppose Lord Freeza’s rule. As mighty conquerors crushing all resistance, the Saiyans have earned their reputation as Freeza’s most powerful subjects. The larger than life tales of the Saiyans, and especially the Super Saiyans, have spread to every corner of the universe. With the Covenant’s failed 30,000-warship siege of New Salda televised live across the civilized universe, as well as the more recent demon invasion transmitted out live, the Saiyans have earned their reputation as the strongest fighters in the universe.

Welcome to Saiyan Conqueror Quest, currently Age 743. You the players control Karn, a Saiyan with a base powerlevel of 3,643,000, a general in Lord Freeza’s army, mate to Meloka, father of six, chosen champion of New Salda, wielder of the Stand Dragon Force, and as “The Dragon of New Salda” you are the symbol of the PTO’s military might across the stars. But for now it seems like there is a peace settling, the likes of which the Saiyans have never known. Other than their missions, which pose little threat to the powerful Saiyans anymore, life has settled into a more peaceful era. But how long will this peace last?

*Vile, putrid creatures they are. Mockeries of human life festering in our streets, walking among our kind in plain sight. Their mere existence defies everything God stands for and everything wrong with this carnal realm. What fool would believe that the union between man and demon is pure?*
in this world there is monsters and there is man. between the forces lie beings that are neither yet are kindred to both. you are of these kindred born into a realm that hates your existence and with that existence you embody a sin.

Raggedy Man Quest

You run a hand over the package in your care, thin paper and slim rope on your fingers. Under ample compensation, you were tasked with bringing it to one of the greatest cities of the wasteland, the last bastion of civilization. You've always been an odd-jobber, working when you needed and just enough to buy yourself a few more moments of survival. You have long forgot what an easy or comfortable life was.

After all, you find yourself among the ruins of a dead city, in a house with a dilapidated roof, sitting around a campfire with 5 strangers, seeking shelter for the night. There is a sixth man outside, combing through the town in hopes of finding anything useful. The warmth of the fire brings a modicum of comfort to a cold night sleeping under the stars. You lean back against a wall, tipping your straw hat over your eyes. It does little to block the light, but you welcome it.

Clutching the package close to your chest, you slowly begin drifting off to sleep...

Until, like a storm, the sixth man barges into your place of rest, staining the floor with his blood. He crashes onto the floor soundlessly, a single iron bolt sticking out of his back. A single look is exchanged between you and the other five. Exiles.

Rising onto your feet and stashing the parcel somewhere with your other belongings, you place a hand on your weapon, its shape casting a menacing shadow behind you...

> A Saber, wide and weighty. Maims like no other

>A fine Katana. Slim and light, able to deliver precise blows.

>A Bo staff, balanced and durable. Simple to learn, hard to master.

>No, the only weapon you require are your bare hands. You are one of the last practicioner of the martial arts.

Pokemon: The Chosen Path

Sup /qst/. This is my very first story told here, and I'm hoping it will become a good one. The idea behind this Pokemon story is that you all have more control over the development of the main character, Nick Walls. Starting from the starter Pokemon, we will guide him through his years no matter what he chooses to do. Some moments will be good and some bad, but the idea is that we enjoy the ride together and appreciate what we were able to do with Nick.

Also let me know if I'm doing anything wrong and any tips about this.

First, I'll need some basic information.

What will Nick's preferred Pokemon type be? This will become his favored type used for his party.

What kind of character is Nick? This won't be set in stone, as events in life can always alter his outlook on life.
>Outgoing and confident, maybe a bit overconfident.
>Colder and more calculating.
>Reserved and a bit pessimistic.
>Neutral, goes with the flow and is more of a follower.
>Other, write your own answer and see if others agree!

How do we want Nick to acquire his first Pokemon?
>Given by the local Professor.
>Given as a gift by parents.
>Caught with supervision.
>Befriended after being aggressive toward Nick.
>Befriended after saving Nick.
>Befriended after being saved by Nick.
>Doesn't have one yet.

What's his family income like?
>Middle class.

Any current friends?
>1 male friend.
>1 female friend.
>1 male and 1 female friend.
>No friends.

Any tragic events happened in his life?

Homunculus Civilization - Thread One

The master was a good man. You all think so. Perhaps he lashed you each once or twice, or discarded a few into the tundra, but it was of no matter. You were glad to serve him, and for decades you did so, as he experimented. You kept his laboratory clean, prepared his food, carved out new chambers for him and did all the other work he could wish of you. You were happy, with new cousins born often from his vats, though most left before you got to hear their voices. He made you. Beautiful, strong, wise, with skin as pale as ivory, veins shimmering blue beneath synthetic flesh and muscles more than strong enough for the work he put you to.

But he is gone now. You waited for him, all of you, for a long time. He had left you before, but never for so long. Then, you found him. What was left of him. You could not remember how, or know why, but he was right in the midst of you, his skull crushed as if by a single, almost human hand. You buried him, naturally, deep in the soil, and then you waited, listless. Without orders. Without use. The laboratory, without his skills, fell apart, slowly, until only a five or six chambers cut into the mountain remained; your own sleeping pods, one of his synth-flesh vats, long empty, his furnace and his treasury, also long emptied.

You would have sat, listless, forever, if you had not begun to grow hungry. It was a new feeling. You were missing something. You had never felt that before. You needed fuel. As the master needed food, and the furnace needs coal, you needed... something. A few of you starved away, turning themselves off in their pods for want of fuel, before you found the secret: Oil. It was vegetable oil, at first. A curious serving unit drank some of the master's store, and felt rejuvenated. Soon, it was discovered that lamp oil could do the trick. So, you drank it. All of it. Then, you were again at a loss once again. You require oil, and there is none left in the laboratory. You must venture into the tundra.

I update every 1-3 days, depending on how busy I am with school work/life/etc. On holidays I may update everyday, on exam crunch time I may not at all. This is not a quest that you have to show up on time for, drop in every day or two and you wont miss anything. And you never have to worry about someone backtracking your vote a day later. Lastly, I will use the same thread until page nine / ten so be sure to pin us!
>Thready Update Prognosis:

-Prompts that are more in depth have a better chance of succeeding. Example: you have a better chance of success if you provide an argument as to why the monster shouldn't eat you then if you simply say "convince him not to eat you".
-Prompts have to make sense in continuity to the story. Example: characters who are established pacifists wont start murdering randomly for exp.
-minimal meta/power gaming
-minimal backpedaling
-Im always in the /qtg/ so please put critiques there

Ben 10 Quest #10

maxresdefault (2)
In this quest, you would usually play as Wade Wakeman, a 16 year old boy with a heart of gold. But not this time. This time, a new story will be explored. In this timeline, Albedo takes Ben’s place as Earth’s protector. You probably have many questions as to how that happened, so let’s sit back and hear the story from our would-be hero…

(Warning! The aliens, stats and trivia posted below will not be applied to Albedo, and he will have his own set of aliens. I will make a separate pastebin for them shortly.)

Most dice rolls will be 1d100. Modifiers will be added depending on the situation or on the alien being used. Crit successes and crit fails apply.

To roll dice, type “dice+1d100” in the options field without the quotations.

Bioweapon Hunter Quest 21

Bioweapon Hunter Quest OP
In the far future, biotechnology advances by leaps and bounds, creating stunning achievements in medical, civil, and military applications. Illness becomes a thing of the past, and genetic modification is as commonplace as cosmetic surgery.

However, like all great advances, unchecked progress and experimentation has led to abuse and corruption. Ultra powerful megacorporations that monopolized the latest biotech have risen to be the great powers of the age, waging secret wars of sabotage, espionage, and deceit to get ahead of each other.

In order to fuel their rampant growth, megacorps develop lethal diseases and viruses, horrific bio-organic abominations, and ever more exotic genetic modifications to both sell to the highest bidder and unleash upon each other.

The rampant proliferation of bioweapons, and the need to contain them, has given rise to a new profession, the BIOWEAPON HUNTER.
Now with a new OP!

Other Quests:

You are LEWIS, a Hunter specializing in hunting down biological threats with your T-Doll companion HK!

Honestly, you figured taking a "consulting" job for the RCPD would be a pretty chill and laid back assignment, but it was nothing of the sort. Once you had finally gotten back home, you simply collapsed on your bad through sheer exhaustion.

Then again, Lucina being in charge of the whole thing may have contributed to your fatigue. She could certainly be a slave driver when she wanted to be.

It's already well into the next day when you wake up, your vision cloudy. Ready to greet you is...

Wendigo: A Worm Quest Part 8

(Starting the thread before I go to work, so will be a bit till more posts)

Interlude: It's a Good Job Mate

Thomas H. Dooley, otherwise known as Kayek -Man, was considered a public menace by Canberra and Australia at large. Australia was different from North America in the fact that it was not part of any PRT branch, but paid into the organizations coffers to receive aid in the event of Endbringer attacks. A side effect of this was that while Australia had plenty of capes, many people did not bother with any form of secret identity as well. Plenty of villains could commit crimes as they pleased, and disappear into the Outback until the heat died off.

That was until the government started issuing bounties, but that's another story.

Thomas H. Dooley was a conservation officer for many years. He woke up early in the morning, made coffee kissed his wife and son goodbye, hopped in his camper, and drove out into the Outback to keep an eye out for kangaroo poachers. All of it changed when the cape villain Bushfire was fleeing from a bank robbery, and found the Dooley house to be good sport.

Thomas returned late in the afternoon to find his home wreathed in flames, with one charred lump of flesh with one smaller cradled in it's arms.

Thomas did more than trigger, he went batshit insane. The man hopped back into his camper, and tore off into the Outback. 3 days later he emerged with a large grin, a boombox, and Bushfire's head.

His powerset was a Mover/Striker, where he could commit great acts of acrobatics and speed. He could commandeer any vehicle with surprising ability, and the power to make land any shot was nothing short of a miracle.

If only he was not batshit insane. Kayek-Man would constantly be a public nuisance, drinking in public, assaulting police officers once told to stop. Numerous break-in's, drunken destruction, and not to mention the constant stream of drugs he consumed. Strangely enough he participated in every Endbringer fight.

"'Ey, Kayek-head, why don't you just run back to the Outback mate, not like you're gonna do any good here." Ironhead, an Australian changer says to the strange cape.

>Kayek-Man POV

"Oi cunt, I can run faster than your black dad. Besides, I cans feel something is gonna happen with that big furry cunt over there" You say, pointing towards the massive form of the Case 53 cape barreling through buildings as it makes a beeline towards the Simurgh.

'Come on Ironhead you daft cunt, just fucking run, you heard the warning. That Famine bastard said everyone within 100 yards will die. Let me have this.'

"Kayek-man, come on. We need to fall back."

"No you cunt, I'm standing right here and watching."

The tall form of Ironhead shrugs, before capturing Kayek-man under an arm, and begins to run in the opposite direction of the massive cape that is now currently pulling the Simurgh towards it. Kayek-man begins a tirade of red-hot vitriol.

Luftpanzer Quest #11

What the hell ever.

They think they can keep her out of trouble, did they? Well, Linda Falkenstein’s middle name was trouble, and certainly not anything flowery and embarrassing. Messing with her was a bad idea, and she was feeling really damn messed with. Wake up, Halmeggia explodes. What’s that? Three of your best friends from forever ago went over there? Oh, one of them came back cut to pieces, another died, and the last was missing? What the fuck? Linda didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or kill somebody. Everything mixed together in a soup of white hot, burning, and even more infuriatingly impotent fury. Sit home, safe and sound, do nothing as per fucking usual. What a joke.

It wasn’t as though she hadn’t known something was up when she received that letter from Dolcherr; rather, it was “from” Reinhold, but Reinhold hated writing and it showed; it was obviously written by Dolcherr. It had been relatively vague as far as destination and task went; she only found out now where they had gone when her father had told her that Douran had died.

Her blood had turned to ice, and her knees had turned to jelly. She was too astounded to even weep, and she couldn’t do anything but…stare at the wall in her room, for over an hour. Always composed, always willing to listen to her, never one who offered anything but good advice and support. Now he was dead. Killed far off in another country, and once again, she hadn’t been able to do anything about it whatsoever. No more shoulder to cry on, no more wingman to pester to get Reinhold to notice her, no more hand to help her up when she was in despair over being so unable to get the man she dreamed about to feel the same way about her as she did him…

Meanwhile, Roland had been so badly hurt he couldn’t even be visited, though he was apparently going to survive. That wasn’t good, but he was at least…home. Unlike Reinhold.

That was what finally made Linda get up and start walking, taking wobbling steps, and then long, determined strides. She could do something. She could fly, and she was one of the best damn pilots she knew. A plane was like a second body to her, and taking to the sky was as simple as putting one foot in front of the other as far as she was concerned.

Oh, that’s unfortunate. Hopefully your masters will return soo-

Oh bother. Well hopefully the masters will come down once they’ve had the-

Darkness and decay. The maintenance drones must be...oh wait, there’s some light.

You watch as rubble and the hardened concrete is slowly moved aside. Some small amount of light pours in, and through the new opening a tiny starved creature slips in. It is starved and moves like a rat, scurrying and searching for something. It had clothes, so perhaps it’s one of the masters pets they decided to dress up. Though judging from the dirt and other stains it had, it must have ran away. Poor thing. It carried a bag, how cute.

A New Mutant Quest Issue #17

You are Kojo Reyes, mutant Kingpin of Crime.

Today you remembered something you'd rather have remained ignorant of, ordered around a dumbass pimp, stole a few burners, checked up on an awkward tiny genius man, ate out some prime raw meat, and hopped to check-up on the Japanese enforcer standing before you.

All-in-all, it's been a pretty uneventful soul crushing day so far.

>[X] "What's the situation? Same as before still?"
>[X] Paranoia check routine: sniff air and soul expand.
>[X] "Can I have your burner cell number? Here's mine."

Maybe he's still here for different reasons than last time. Also, you can never be too paranoid. Someone might have followed Itsuki here and set up cameras or is spying on thee building from a distance all stakeout-like.

"What's the situation? Same as before still?"

Itsuki nods.

"Several of my men are still away and likely slumbering with their families, Reyes-sama. They will most likely return in a few hours after having breakfast. If not, I will track them down myself."

An understanding hum rumbles in your throat.

He's lenient but that doesn't mean he won't hold those under him accountable for their actions.

Closing all three of your eyes, you take in the surrounding air through your nose.

Nothing smells different in anyway from the last time you were here save the faint scent of a few snacks.

Opening your third eye, you pour out into the world through the immaterial flesh.

That which is you envelops your vessel, The Bright One before it, The Bright One's followers along with the building they are in, and the surrounding area in a globe.

Absolutely nothing is out of the ordinary.

You open your eyes and blink at the Japanese man standing before you.

"Can I have your burner cell number? Here's mine." You dig out your burner, flip it open, open the settings app, and scroll down to click on the about phone tab. "Two-One-Two, Six-Six-Six, Three-Five-Eight-One."

The middle-aged Japanese man whispers the number to himself a few times before nodding.

"Nine-One-Seven, Five-Three-Nine, Two-One-Five-Eight."

You give him a nod back in confirmation.

Now you won't have to jump back in forth to communicate with him.

>[ ] "I'm going to need you to return to the warehouse in a few hours. Some things need to be sorted out."
>[ ] "Do you have a list of the numbers your men have?"
>[ ] "I'll leave you to it then. Take care, Itsuki."
>[ ] Take off to Strange's place, of course it'd be weird after last time but you've got to keep up your studies.
>[ ] Hop to the warehouse, you've got shit to do.
>[ ] Write In.

Nothing Short of a Miracle 3

“Kill it!” Ember shouts, brandishing her besom like a spear. “Someone kill it already!”

The kitten-like, feature-less mass swipes at her from the floor, failing to reach the top of the desk where Ember has made her fortress. It’s a duskling.

“You’re the one holding a besom,” Rye replies from her top bunk, “Just hit it hard.”

“Easy for you to say that, it’s not your besom! Are you going to pay for mine when it breaks?” she replies.

You are cheering on her efforts from your own bunk all the while being used as a shield by Lilac who has climbed up and hid behind you. Gripping your shirt, she tugs and tells you, “Stella, do something!”

You reply, “What if I hit Ember?”

Ember yelps as the duskling jumps onto her chair. “Back! Get back!” She jabs at it with her make-shift weapon, the fibers phasing through the immiraculous beast and barely moving the thing at all. When she pulls back, the duskling clings on. Her voice raises higher and higher until it resembles a squeak. “No, no! Get off! Stop!” Swinging, she scrapes the end on the rug, coloring it with a heavy shadow.

Rye rubs the bridge of her nose. “I just cleaned it too.”

You’ve seen an animated shadow before; it was the first thing from the castle that greeted you. While it’s not uncommon for the unreal to be given an ego and thereby a form, shadows tend to suboptimal when it comes to handling things. Dusklings, more so than any other immiraculous creature, are born from the subconscious of thaumaturges. It seems no matter how old one becomes, they are, for the most part, incredibly imaginative when it comes to the mysteries of the unseen. That is why dusklings often appear in places where dark nooks and crannies can be found aplenty. The Anlaecende, of course, is filled with such things.

Ember starts yelling as the duskling begins to climb up her besom.

At this rate, you’ll be late.
>”I’ll open the window, you throw it out!”
>”Hold it still and I’ll burst it!”
>”Open the door and toss it out!”
>Watch patiently.

Strikers 2016

No doubt stayed up all night working to get the Wyvern spun up- she 's a caffine hound like you wouldn't beleive.
Ah, news!

So the folks may have me down there next(?) week to help out with some pretty major yard work, not sure if I mentioned that before or not. Not a big deal, but a multiple day one, so there won't be any runs while that's going on. I'm hoping they'll call me to go down there Monday next week, but we'll see. I'll keep you guys up to speed there, so you'll know as soon as I do- just check the twitter, here

Other than that, no news worth mentioning- no job offers yet, sadly. ah well.

Someone, you reflect rather grimly, set your cell phone alarm to a general quarters klaxon. You have your suspicions on whom, though you can’t imagine when they’d have had a chance to do it.

Normally you’re up before your alarm, of course, a habit you grew into in high school, but the late night last night meant you actually slept in a little- you had to curtail your morning run too, and you still haven’t managed to catch breakfast. You’ve had worse before, but it still annoys you with yourself, unusual circumstances or no.

One of the ever-present base vehicles- this time, a humvee from the local marine pool, still painted in desert tan, waits for you. It’s just as well, it’s a fairly nice day, even if it is a bit warm. Your driver, perhaps predictably, is a marine provost marshal officer- armed, of course. He salutes and then nods towards you. “Morning, sir.” He says. “I’m Sargent Williams, and I’m your driver for the day. You’re supposed to go to the admin building, but I’ve also been told you need to get by the flight line and the med center before afternoon chow.”

You nod.

“Don’t matter to me which order we do it in, sir, but we’d better get going if you want to make it to the chow hall this afternoon.”

[] Let’s get by admin first, so i can take care of the last of the paperwork there.
[] It was probably Merlin that wanted to see you on the flight line, I’ll do that first.
[] Let’s get by the docs first, so we can get that done before anything else.

Claymore: Second Swords Quest #21

You are Noel Tiberius di Hazaran, and what is before you is not a band of bandits as you were led to believe. Instead they seem to view themselves as mercenaries, the distinction being that mercenaries can at least claim to have certain standards of behavior. They're not an uncommon phenomenon in the north and in the mountains... really Hazaran is something of a standout in that it maintains a large and well-trained standing army. Only cavalry are conscripted, and that's possible due to the fact that most families that would have the ability to send a son off to fight already have multiple horses and training in using them.

Mercenaries on the other hand are self-organized and largely self-trained, and fight for whoever pays them well enough to make fighting worth the time and risk involved. While that often leads to morally grey assignments it also frequently involves fighting bandits that prey on the communities from which those bands of mercenaries themselves are from. There are times when a mercenary band will be a more welcome sight than national partisans in uniform.

“My older brother's set up in that town,” the 'boss' explains. “He and I don't see eye to eye, but I can always count on him for a quick meal between jobs.”

“Never knew you had roots, boss.”

“Yeah, it's a pretty nice town,” the boss chuckles. “Good place to settle down and start a family if you're interested in that sorta thing. My brother was, the life of a sellsword just called to me though.”

It's not a nice town though, you think to yourself. At least, not anymore. It's neither nice nor a town, but a smoldering ruin filled with snow-covered corpses. The hell of it is, it's your responsibility now to step forward and explain that to these men... all of which are hardened by a life of work and battle, and at least one of which has lost his family and doesn't even know it yet.

You step into the light of their fire, your hands clearly raised. “I do not mean to cause trouble.”

There's a sudden burst of activity despite your assurances, and weapons are drawn. You on the other hand remain motionless.

The man you understand to be the boss lowers his sword, a sign that he recognizes you for what you are. “A witch?”

You nod once. “You spoke of the nearby town. There has been an incident.”

“What sort of 'incident' are you talking about?”

GIB - Global Investigation Bureau

Pastebin -

You are the newly initiated Commander of GIB- the Global Investigation Bureau. A reactionary organization formed by the United Nations in response to increased reports of unnatural or extraterrestrial forces on earth. The organization was launched despite strong objections from numerous parties, all of whom are still calling for its disbanding. Poorly funded and equipped you are charged with investigating these reports and the validities of the claims.

You sit in your new office, buried five hundred feet underground. Comfy chair, nice oak desk and a cabinet of every fine hard alcohol known to man. Everything a man could need. You watch the door open as your chief intelligence officer enters the office carrying enough paperwork to ruin your good mood.

“Good Morning Sir, its good to finally meet you.”

She sits down across from you, her long red hair and stark blue eyes standing out. Placing the paperwork on the desk she reaches her hand across and you match it for a firm handshake.

“It’s good to meet you as well Karmen. Right to work are we?”

"Well I do have some reports to for you to look over. Ill be honest here im surprised someone like you is went for this position. It seemed like the UN would need to force someone in this position given how much opposition and little resources you’re given. What brought you here? "

[PACYOA] Operation: Birdcatcher

Oni Island
The Island, seemingly propelled as though it was a ship, was getting closer to landfall. Its demonic appearance a hint to what it might do to the surrounding population centers if it does go ashore.

However, between landfall and the Island stood the New Queen and its accompanying fleet. Admiral Harkland sits in his armored command bridge, looking rather grim, but hiding a quarter of a smile underneath his stern expression.

Admiral Harkland will be communicating with everyone using low frequency radio waves. His engineers have also equipped everyone with a football-sized EMP net, which Harkland has instructed to be used when the "core" of the Island is at its final throes to secure and capture it.

Pilots, whether it is to fulfill Harkland's contract or some other purpose, the Island must be stopped before it reaches Nu-Japan's shores to keep potential collateral damage to a minimum.

Prepare accordingly, and good luck.

>This mission will accept at most 6 pilots (with priority given to pilots who joined Operation Oni Island) before starting in around 30 minutes.
>Post your suits and their bonuses.

Jingoism War Pt.2 (Rifts RPG, Civ)

>>3231334 Previous thread

The clock is ticking as WW3 grinds to what will likely be a close; resources for all the war machines running out like so much coal in so many furnaces.

You are a lone man, Einar Fionntan, a studier of magic and a leader of man, but you are horrible at speaking to people in public or private. You dream of a past age of personal responsibility and initiative. Currently, you, your followers, and your allies command Idaho and Montana in Rural New America.

Since last thread, you drilled your troops to a higher standard; consolidated control over Idaho and Montana via diplomacy, assassination, conspiracy, deception, and outright use of force; and obtained a pathway to importing dangerous explosive ammo.

Sadala Defense Force Quest #1

Planet Sadala; home of the Saiyans of Universe 6. It is a beautiful world of lush jungles, great mountains, roaring and winding rivers, and a great variety of indigenous life. Though lovely in appearance, it is home to many dangers. Massive and fearsome beasts roam the wilderness, lush jungles give way to barren wastelands, and neighboring planets have proven hostile to the world of Sadala. Such tough conditions have bred a strong race of warriors, and the prowess of the Saiyans is known across the universe.

In order to defend their civilization, the Saiyans of the past founded the Sadala Defense Force, comprised of many mighty Saiyan warriors who fought off invaders and protected their bastions of civilization from harm. Soon, it became accepted that to invade Sadala was a useless gesture, and the world grew largely safer. This success impressed many across the universe, and soon, other worlds and interplanetary organizations began to come to Sadala, requesting the aid of the Saiyans.

Seeing the benefits of Saiyans continuing to be exposed to intense combat, as well as the financial prosperity it could bring, the Saiyan King expanded the role of the Sadala Defense Force, allowing other worlds to hire Saiyans for protection from invaders. The Sadala Defense Force has since become one of the greatest peace-keeping forces in Universe 6. And now, you intend to join them.

In the last session we talked with Nike’ about Verdandi’s precognition and our village’s peculiar geopolitical position. Luckily, we weren’t discovered just yet and there might be a few promising developments in regards for our independence and future relations with other pantheons. However, that is probably far in the future and Nika decided to join your New Year celebration after a small confusion with a psi-charged ring. We gave out our presents and talked Haven into joining us in our adventures on a more permanent basis.

Unlucky Servant Quest #6: Classes

UA Image 6
Previous Thread: >>3228357

Your master, Vivi D'Roix, had just completed her fourth day at the academy, you introduced Mercedes to Vivi's friend group, and she has signed up to take both [Nobility Etiquette] & [Field Studies] as her extracurricular classes. During the time of where you master was picking classes, you ventured back into the garden to capture one of the Murtlaps so that Vivi may drive her knife into the ugly rodent for fun.

Using your [Enhanced Hearing](Basic) you found the professor for [Field Studies] and successfully avoided in having magical flames shoot from your ass, and taking a trip to the hospital wing of the academy. Due to your beginner's luck, the field studies professor handed you a thick book called [Fishing Holes] that he bought from a traveling merchant.

After leaving the professor you took some time to learn [Enhanced Hearing](Intermediate) and used it once more to eavesdrop on those who were not aware. Afterward, you visited the Occult Club to learn about the strange house but ended up joining them as a member, as they seemed to enjoy your presence, and perhaps even be called your own "friend group." While you were gone Vivi got into a social pickle, with Czesara, but you were able to guide her into apologizing to her servant instead, and treat it as a misunderstanding. You also learned that Rena is some type of information broker that got Vivi targetted in the first place.

Now you are walking back to Vivi's dormitory room.

Piratical! - A High Seas Adventure: PROLOGUE

'Renne', you ask your lifelong friend. She turns to look at you with the widest grin you've ever seen on her in all the years you've been friends. She cocks her head to the left as if to silently tell you to ask what's on your mind.

'I think we're seamen', you state with an air of disbelief. You move to the railing of the ship to drink in the panorama before you. The wind on your face, the smell of seasalt, the sound of the ship's creaking wood--all these tease you of the adventure to come, the big blue world you'll see. And of the story you'll tell. If you live long enough to tell one!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Panoke Cove. A sleepy little island you've called home you entire life. An island where nothing happens. Not since King Signatora of Castile took power and turned it into a glorified naval port. It's nothing but a sailor's playground now. Whenever the king's navy has some cargo to drop off, they drop anchor, hit the taverns, the wenchhouses, and are sailing before tomorrow noon. Though most of Panoke hates the navy, you secretly envy them, for they live a life you've tried to for years; they live in a world you can see but not touch. And oh, how you've tried. Both the only interesting landmark and ticket off the island and into a seaman's boots is the Royal Navigation School, which you can't attend due to being an orphan.

Usually, no parents are a good thing, but with no genetic lineage or voucher of a pedigree, it sucks, really sucks to be you.

Today was yet another port day for the Castilian Navy. The red and gold and wood of their ships sit gallantly in the port, sails neatly furled with their colours fluttering proudly in the wind. By now, you'd have met up with Renne outside the tavern, where you are now, and been getting up to your usual activities.

'Hey! Hey kid!'

You whip around to see a Castilian Sailor leaning against a barrel on the other side of the tavern's exterior. When you turn to face him you're met with a toothy grin that displayed more gold and silver than anything else. Looks like the king was taking all comers now. Yet he still wouldn't allow an orphan to join his navy!

'You wantin' to make some easy coin?'

>'Definitely not, creep!' (Suspicious)
>'That depends. How honest is this method to make this "easy coin"?' (Cautious)
>'Why the hell not? Figure I'll eat good for a while at least.' (Risky)

Shinigami Savant Quest #146

You are Neliel tu Odelschwanck, an arrancar who is loosely aligned with the shinigami of the Gotei 13, and at the moment you find yourself on a personal mission. After a substantial amount of trouble with the quincy that have been left here to guard Aizen's rear echelon, you've finally had your first success by following a familiar trace of reiatsu to where Dondachakka has been hiding.

The arrancar's eyes snap up in instinctive fear, before realizing who that voice belonged to.

“Lady Nel?” he gasps. “Lady Nel!”

“Hey Dondachakka,” you force a smile. “Sorry it took a while.”

“Lady Nel what happened to your arm!?” your fraccion blubbers. “You've been fighting that hard to find us?”

“Of course,” you insist. “Come on, dummy. You knew I'd be back for you, right?”

“But for us, who weren't even strong enough to escape ya know...”

“Stop that,” you insist sternly, before softening your tone. “Tell you what. You stop talking down about yourself, and I'll stop blaming myself for getting you into this situation in the first place.”

“Sound fair?”

After considering it for a few moments, Dondachakka nods. “Well when you put it that way, ya know... sure, I guess.”

With that settled, you're left to consider the next problem. “How do we get back...”

“I dunno...” Dondachakka admits with a frown. “I've been trying to figure that out, ya know.”

“We could always go through to the living world,” you frown, thinking deeply on the matter. “But Pesche is still in the Schattenbeireich, and we'd have no way of getting there from the living world unless we could find a quincy capable of doing it...”

“Or,” you countinue, “we could go back the way we came. But I have no idea if it would actually work that way.”

“Seems like a tough question...” Dondachakka muses along with you. “Not like we could just ask Ulquiorra, you know...”

Commentarii de Bello Sinica - CAPVT II

Sacking of Suerna
The Gaulish chieftain's concern was found to be baseless.

Suerna, scion of Carthage, accumulator of a hundred generations' mercantile wealth, queen among the many daughters of that most ancient of the Semitic peoples - all that history and wealth crumbled beneath the weight of the martial debauchery of a single night. Cabaleiro, captain of the Five Hundred whose military pedigree stretched to the time of Cyrus the Younger led his men with flawless discipline against his once-employers, the heavily armoured infantrymen consolidating their gains in the urban districts behind looming tower-shields. The gates were open minutes after Rhea began her rain of missiles from her great machines of war, their guardians slain by javelins and swords.

The Gaulish cavalry streamed into the panicking city under the ghostly light of the moon, and everything they touched was death. Axe in one hand, freshly-lit torch on the other, they blazed throughout the heavily populated city like the flames they spread throughout the honey-comb urban complex of the highly populated town. The markets, the shipyards, the temples, the palace - everywhere the blood of Tyrians and Phoenicians and Carthaginians mingled and flowed freely like cheap wine in the aftermath of a wedding. Too late, a guard tower high up in the central hill of Suerna rang its alarm helplessly, the last auto-eulogy from a dying city: "Awake! Fear! Fire! Foe! Awake!"

And seeing this, Caesar spoke, remembering an ancient poem:

Where is your much-admired beauty, walled Daughter of Tyre?
where is your crown of towers, where are your possessions of old?
where are the temples of the immortals, the houses, the wives
of Sidonion Throne, and the myriads of people?
Not even a trace has been left of you, ill-fated town,
but all has been seized and devoured by war.

Tales from the No-Man's Land

First, your feet had blistered. Then the blisters had popped, bled pus, gotten caked in dirt. Now the dried pus and the caked dirt and the dead skin had packed together into thick calluses.

You liked your calluses. They were tough and unfeeling; you could walk across hot asphalt or sharp gravel, and it felt like wearing a pair of shoes. You wanted to grow calluses on your hands, and your knees, and shoulders, and chest, until you were sunken under a layer of calluses, protected from the world by hardened, unfeeling flesh.

You couldn't remember how long you had been walking for. The no-man's land played tricks: there were no landmarks, no trails, just a sprawl of ruined cityscape, eroded into unrecognizable, homogeneous ruins.

It didn't matter where you were going, as long as it was away from where you had been.

You carried with you an iron that had three chambers loaded, some hard-tack, and a canteen. You had set out with a roll of bandages, but had gone through them quickly, between having to re-wrap your face, bandaging your leg after being bitten by a feral, bandaging your shoulder after scraping it falling down a pitfall.

You'd found the iron on your fourth day in the no-man's land, clutched in the fingers of a smiling skeleton sitting against the wall of a half-collapsed storm drain.

It had looked smug in its death, like a freed slave returning to a labor camp. You'd squatted down and taken a piss in its lap before ripping the revolver off of its wrist-bone and leaving.

The sun was starting to sink towards the horizon. You didn't want to be outside come night time: that was when the ferals came out, like so many cockroaches hiding in the darkness of fetid warrens beneath the streets. Even if you made it to shelter, there was no safety, only temporary reprieve.

You had learned how to sleep with your eyes open quickly.

There was a ruin a few blocks north that with an in-tact second story. You decided it was your best bet for tonight, and starting casing it for any signs of recent habitation— sometimes a pack of ferals would move aboveground if they were forced out of the sewers.

As you drew near, however, you heard noise in the distance— not from the ruin, but somewhere close by. It took over a minute of listening before you realize what the noise was:

You drew your iron and inched very carefully up to a corner of the ruin, then peered around it with feline suspicion.

Diagonal from the two-story ruin was a lot reduced to little more than rubble, and in the middle of this lot, a camp was pitched. There were two tents— little more than ropes tied between posts with drapes hanging over them— a campfire, and four people that you could see, gathered around it.

And they were playing music.

> Approach the musicians
> Attack the musicians
> Keep your distance and watch
> Move on and look for another place to stay for the night

Body Horror Quest, 10th Vein
Your name is Shu, and though you woke a mere two weeks ago to find the world you knew replaced with a hellscape of pulsing veins and marbled bone, complete with a hive of furious hornets nestled along your spine, you’ve managed to find a silver lining to the horrors of the apocalypse.

For one thing, you’ve made some genuine friends, three of whom travel alongside you in your collective pursuit of something only known as the Cord, a mysterious westward location that all Daughters are drawn towards. You have conquered terrifying opponents, traversed the twisting madness of the fleshscape, and learned more about your friends and your dimly-remembered past…yet you feel as though your journey to the west is just beginning.

Now, as you prepare to venture forth into the abyssal darkness of the Shrouded City, you find yourself standing outside its hidden depths, the eerily silent vastness of the skin-fields pressing in around you as you grapple with a revelation from the past...

Waking up sucks. Especially with three strangers hovering over you in a dark and moist area.
Glancing around you notice that the walls are curved and covered in filth, leading to believe you are in a sewer or some equivalent. The three strangers have backed off but the low light of a candle shows three highly varying body shapes. A thin, waif like one in the middle; a large and bulky to the left; and a relatively normal one to the left. Behind the Door

Begin at The End
So this is how it happens, one moment you hold the power to change nature itself, the next you are sealed away behind a seal intended to keep you in this void for the next 5,000 years. Thankfully your powers allow you to sustain yourself in this Pale Orange Nothing, surely they didn't think you so foolish as to not prepare for the worst outcomes? An insult surely....

"What an annoyance"

The phrase echoed strangely, like you were talking into a cave that never stayed the same size. In fact this whole... Void? Was strange, with thick air that you could swim in that spanned forever, the key feature a large door with the symbol of a spiral inside a diamond, orbited by a coiling chain that softly clinked as moved. You recall falling through the doorway and being sealed in here, though now it doesn't show any locks or handles...

You rub your sore forehead, feeling the shattered Soul Gem and holes where your Sigil of Teleportation had been marked on your hands. Without them you are limited in your abilities, having to rely on your strength and less refined magic if you hope to do anything. Damn those "Heros", you will show all of Zalterra what a mistake it was to let you bide your time!

You will make them all pay, or your name isn't---!

(choose a title/name for the Dark Lord, as well as one of the shown actions)

[] Curse the band of fools who sent you here! (this will give you a selection of beings that banished you to this empty plane)

[] Create a keep fit for one of your standing! Tall towers and a throne room, complete with a extravagant kings quarters to rest your head.

[] Summon a lair to concentrate your awesome power! Twisted spires and a Warlock's library complete with your collection of alchemic items!

[] Inspect the door

[] Write in.

Magical Girl For Hire #68

Miranda Styles #68
Feral Dark Elves. Not a new one, perse, but admittedly uncommon.

Before you can muse on that much more, though, a buzzing comes through your head- that’d be Izumi calling. “Yeah?” you quickly answer to a confused capitan as you take out your Murmur Stone. “Sitrep?”

“Got a bit of an issue,” is the immediate response. “I’m seeing rapid insertion forces in multiple areas coming in hot! They’ve done away with the finesse!”

Great. “Like they ever had it. We’ve dealt with one, managed to break into the Judicator’s Hall. Few fatalities, few casualties. Locations?”

“Two to the north near your position; flanked by mounted infantry and armored. Eyes on two more incoming parties near the south end; big massive wooden wagons with external riders!” Great. You’ve got to pick and choose, now. Although you didn’t think they had this kind of logistics system, you don’t have time to question how. The royals are out of the city, but you still have to punt these idiots out...

For Hire: Episode 7

Title Card 07
“Oh I…” you trail off. You’ve known Naomi for all of a few weeks, traveling, talking, and sharing your thoughts with her. While you know for a fact that Adam was close to you and all you can think about is getting him back you can’t truly imagine having one of your brothers in the same position as Naomi’s sister is in. You can’t imagine the stress, fear, and worries that you would have with not knowing if your someone like that was dead or worse.

You know for a fact that whatever method this splicing thing they do for their ‘products’ isn’t nice. To be forced to do something like that could be considered worse than death. Forced against your will, to create something like that… whatever devious plans they’ve came up with, this is truly the worst you’ve heard of humanity. It goes beyond murder, yet they do that as well just to hide their tracks. And these are the people who has Sumi.

Villians. Comically so…

“I…” you sigh as you shake yourself out of staring at Naomi for too long. “You’re pretty weird, ya know?”

“Oh?” She sighs as she flattens herself on her bed, laying down completely as she looks up to the ceiling, “weird, huh? You should have said something Sammy, I can be a lot weirder, you know. Like, I have a lot more weird stories if you’re interested, though I probably can’t really tell you half of them.”

“What do you mean?”

“I should be the one asking you that, Sammy, calling me weird and all,” she says quietly. “I just meant that I can’t tell them, give them justice that is. My sisters always thought I was good with words, they said I should be a writer one day and wanted me to join one of the universities near our house, like really close by too --like thirty minutes close by. I didn’t think I would be someone to tell stories, I didn’t like making things up, so instead, I became a journalist. Those are the kind of stories I wanted to write, you know, something worth telling.”

“Ha… yeah,” you say as you lean your head against the wall and look up, “My brothers always said I could be some sort of designer for those fancy sort of companies, buildin ships, making a living like that. Said I’d be working for those big ones, like Apex or Exalt or somethin like that. Big names, big payout. When I heard from Adam that I’d be taking over his spot in Arcady, all I thought was that I should take over. Wasn’t really thinkin bout the future.”

“I get that,” she says, you hear her moving about on the bed and shifting herself.

“You know, I ain’t meant that you were weird in a bad way,” you as shrugging as you slide slightly down in the somewhat uncomfortable chair, “Weird in a good way, like when you say those things. You know a lot. I wasn’t ever like that.”

“I can tell,” she says jokingly.

“Yeah, I mainly got in fights or worked on things with my hands, all this… really ain’t what I thought it’d be.”

Alive Alone

Eyes closed tight, you lean your head back, legs wobbling a bit under you as you slowly open your eyelids, taking in the dark, damp ceiling above you, the icy cold warehouse having seen much better days, back when it wasn't abandoned you think, as you twitch, the girl before you stirring. Talking. Begging.

But you weren't listening. You preferred not to. When you listened, it made your job harder, it reminded you what you were doing was wrong. But, you didn't really care. Or maybe, yes, you were just too much of a coward, too long gone from your emotions to really care. You weren't sure, but as you slowly looked down to the girl, bound and chained before you, you knew something was wrong with you, to so easily have agreed to this life you know lived.

You met her eyes, a terror stuck inside the blue gems like mud in water, as you felt only a slight tug at your heart. You rubbed at the dagger in your hand, slowly looking down to the weapon, held in a left hand scarred, chainlink marks burned into the flesh as if you had gripped onto hot chains. A reminder you were owned. A servant and slave. Willingly, but not happily. It was a purpose at least, something you had never had before.

You snap your attention back up to the lady, her mouth moving, words filling the dark room, despite falling numbly on your ears like always. You were sill pretty new to all this, but already were getting the hang of things you think. Already learning how to look at your victims as nothing more than the sacrifices they were, food and offerings to keep the dark nightmares who commanded you at bay, to keep them satisfied, until they next sent you orders and demands through more sleepless nights full of terrors.

The darkness was real, and it was hungry. The whispers in your head told you to move, to act, but you ignored them too. They would get their blood, their sacrifice, but in due time. You still needed to mentally prepare yourself for this. To get your mind and body in line here. To remind yourself of why you acted.

>She was a Lawyer, a dirty one at that. Thats why you had chosen her as your victim. If you were going to kill, you were going to clean up the town, not slaughter the innocent.( +1 Stamina,+2 Stubbornness)

>She was a girl you knew from highschool. She had teased you, made your life miserable. If you were going to kill, you were going to set things straight, fix things you left unfinished in the past. ( +1 Strength, +1 Stubbornness, +1 Stealth)

>She was a pretty thing, she had caught your eye, and before you knew it, she was here, with you...if you were going to kill, you were going to enjoy it.(+2 Speed, +1 Stealth)

>You didn't even know who she was, you just found the first girl you could get away with grabbing. If you were going to kill, you were going to make sure you didn't get caught doing it. (+1 Strength, +1 Speed, +1 Stealth)

help us make a hexcrawl

If you see this thread in the catalog, get in here and post. Here's the rules:
>copy the most recent version of the map into paint
>use color picker to fill the hexes
>you can fill in up to five adjacent hexes with the same land type, then add fluff for ONE of those hexes.
>you may also add rivers in hexes you are coloring in (not already filled hexes) as long as they follow normal river rules (mountains/hills to oceans / lakes)
>don't over-write other anon's hexes
>once all the hexes are filled, only do fluff for already-existing hexes
>the world concept is D&D-style fantasy, which is fairly flexible but please no sci-fi or modern stuff
> If there does happen to be a tie or conflict on hexes, whoever posted first wins. If you notice a conflict please delete your post and try again. If you notice a conflict, do not use that map and wait for it to be deleted then try again.

I've already started the map a bit, O12 is plains, with a town build in a clearing. Let's call the town Thornhill.

Objectively Good Angel Quest

Everlasting Light
> In this reality Good and Evil are objectively real, tangible forces that act in the lives of Men, and are locked in eternal conflict. Across the cosmos countless worlds are caught in the struggle, and over the course of eons Good has lost ground, as Evil festers and the Gods lays silent. There are no depths to which Evil will not sink, and no end to the unrelenting tide of Men given wholly unto temptation. Good stands strong, but every world lost is never again gained, and Evil grows fiercer by the day. Perhaps its ultimate victory is inevitable, but Good Men remain, and it shall not come without a fearsome struggle.
> Far flung from the center of the cosmos, one world languishes, its Golden Age has come and gone and it lies in the grip of decay. The faith in the temples has dwindled, famine comes more often than not, plagues run rampant on a defenseless people, and in the darkest places, Evil festers. Left alone, this world would fall, consumed by Demons, unholy avatars of Evil made manifest, but it is not alone, for in a distant place, outside a homely village, an Angel, the purest incarnations of what little Good yet remains has formed, and it does intend to leave this fallen world to its undeserved fate.
> You are that Angel, and for the sake of the righteous few, you shall render Judgement.
>> By what Name shall you be known?
>> Such is the omnipresent Evil, this world cannot withstand the fullness of your Holy visage, yet from time to time it may manifest. Were a Man to bare witness to your True Form, what would they witness?

Metamorphosis Quest

You emerge from your chrysalis one morning to find yourself transformed into a monstrous insect. This is not quite true. You’ve always been an insect. What’s new is the self-awareness of it, the sentience, the sapience.

You must have eaten one of the higher order creatures when you were a nymph. A lizardman or a human. You examine your new form. It’s roughly humanoid. Five feet tall, bipedal, bimanual, wingless, weaponless, soft; in a word: weak. A pair of compound eyes takes up most of your head and offers a low resolution (but broad) view of the world. a pair of long, thin antenna picks up crude chemical signatures that you can roughly categorize as either “danger” or “food”.

The metabolic cost of intelligence has obviously hampered the development of other defenses but the interruption of the pupal state has, you sense, granted you further metamorphic potential.

But that can come later, right now you’re starving.

What will you do?

>Satiation: Starving
>Eat the remains of your chrysalis and its pupal fluids (Starving -> Famished)
>Seek out smaller prey in the underbrush
>Seek out a fruit tree and pick some fruits

STAR WARS: The Imperial Archive

The war against the Rebellion did not happen the way most think it did.

The films, the heroes, the endless moralizing of the Rebellion was not done to reveal a concept of freedom, it was done to make the people docile to their acts of terror, and apathetic to the plight of the billions of men, women, and children who suffered because of the Rebellion's insatiable desire for property. That's what the war was fought over. Property.

Consider that the Rebel Alliance was mostly stocked with criminals, looters, terrorists who could not make an honest living. They were the opportunists who preyed upon the defenceless and the poor long before the Old Republic even fell. They were the ones who turned independent worlds into drug states. They were the ones who served criminal warlords, who took advantage of Old Republic's unwillingness to 'interfere' in the affairs of the Outer Rim, neglecting the rampant slavery and extortion that affected billions more. Make no mistake. The Rebellion was not a war of freedom. It was a war of loot. And your world, too, was affected by it.

Consider =why= the Empire became so strong. It was not a restriction of freedom. It was the establishment of security where there was none before. It was the freeing of countless Outer Rim Worlds from the clutches of the corrupt, the ruthless, the wicked, who captured the minds of their peoples with drugs, and enslaved their bodies with debt at interest rates unfathomable to you or I today. The Empire became the invincible behemoth that it was because it liberated billions from the oppression of lawlessness, giving them security to live in peace, opportunity to take on a job of their choosing, and the chance for greatness and glory in serving the Emperor, in true defence of their countrymen. Make no mistake. The Rebellion did not desire freedom, but a return to the lawlessness that enabled the ruination of billions of lives. There were so many men and women whose potential was stolen in order to support the lavishness of the few who would so 'freely' oppress them, and that was what the Rebellion cried out for, for the freedom to steal.

It was the freedom to steal, from you, and from everyone you have ever or will ever love.

Chad Mass Isekai Quest 1. A god's beginning.

New Gym
One day, on your rest day no less, you get a call from your lifting mates, Vlad and Brad. They want you to train a chad in the making, Alad. Right now his gains are sub-par at best due to his lack of centering himself, “being himself” so to speak. Of course you agreed and decided to help Alad ascend to Chadhood, instead something else happens...
The next day, you arrive at the gym. Curiously enough, there are a ton of people here, ranging from the humble lanklet to the bloatmax mutant. In fact, THE WHOLE GYM IS FUCK HUGE, HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!!?!?
Of course, keeping your cool, you ask what’s going on, you wave over the Gym owner.

Wandering Merchant Quest

After years of working for the old fish merchant, Codman, you've finally saved up enough to strike out on your own. Seven talents of gold, 420 mina, six-hundred days worth of skipping meals, non-stop work, sweat, tears and maybe even some blood. A fortune!

Well, maybe not, but it's still your ticket out of this small, backwoods village. Because, you're not going to follow in your master's footsteps and sling fish for the rest of your life. Because you're going to be that species of merchant that races through the world and leaves wealth wherever he goes. What they call the wandering merchant; what your people call, a safaryam.

But first, every wandering merchant needs a gamal, the vessel by which he wanders. And after much thought and deliberation you've decided your first gamal will be:

>The spare fishing boat your master keeps in his shed. It's worn, full of holes and probably doesn't even have a functional sail, but you're certain you can get it from him for cheap, if not for free (0-10 mina)
>A wheeled carriage purchased from a larger town a few miles down the road. It won't be cheap, but the roads are not as risky as the turbulent seas. You can't bribe a squall after all. (30-40 mina)
>A ticket for passage on one of the jalabis, the looming treasure ships of the Melkite Trading Company. It's not particular expensive and can get you pretty far but it's obviously something you don't own. Still, many safaryams make their start sharing jalabis so you're bound to meet some on the way (for better or worse).

The South Has Risen: Prologue

You look over your horse, equipment, mental state, and physical state. You feel almost flustered, and you haven't even made it to your company's mustering point yet. Your revolver is in good shape, your spirits are... middling, and your commission is clutched in your hand. You read it one more time, trying to brace yourself for the future which you know will come rampaging towards you, regardless of what efforts you make.

"Captain John Henry Clayton... Called to service... Company B..." The words read on the page like an obituary. As a young, budding commissioned officer of the U.S. military, you weren't exactly expecting a civil war like this to break out as it did. Perhaps the men in Washington, or the men much higher above you on the chain of command, knew that this was going to happen all along - you, however, remained ignorant of the country's proceedings. When it all finally happened, you felt like you were thrown out of your depth. Regardless, as a Southern man, you had no choice but to return home and fight for the Confederate secessionists, as home is ultimately where one's loyalties should lie, as any decent man would agree.

Taking one more look at your horse before mounting it and beginning your journey, you try to remember exactly where your company is mustering from.

>You may name your favorite U.S. state that seceded during the Civil War. This will be where John H. Clayton gets his company from.

Ninja of the Bloody Mist Quest #8

NBM Title Card
You are Myon Uesugi, a young ninja girl who has found herself locked in battle with the Living Dead. It was only several days ago that you left the Village Hidden in the Mist alongside your friend Kasumi and her sensei Ao. The mission was to help lead a company of Ashigaru into battle alongside your temporary allies from the Village Hidden in the Clouds. All was going well as you and Kasumi slew many enemy soldiers before conquering a small town, but things took a turn for the strange when you two received mysterious necklaces with inverted triangles on them. Then one night you found yourself ambushed by a soldier who was clearly already dead, and this same night you find that the village you recently took is under attack by similar monsters! It may take all of your shinobi skills to fight through the bloodshed that is to follow…

>Character Sheet

>Anko Side-Story

Leaping up a wall, you dash onto the rooftops as chaos engulfs the town. Here and there you spot what looks to be Land of Lightning Ashigaru and a handful of your own men from the Land of Water. Banding together, they appear to be holding off mobs of disheveled and bloody warriors bearing the emblem of the Land of Hot Water. While you worry for your men’s survival against these monstrous foes, you decide that there is something you must see to before assisting them.

Bolts of red lighting blast through the sky at several different angles, but all appear to be concentrated around the tall home that once belonged to this town’s mayor. The same building that Sho’nuff took as his current lodging. You had little idea what could cause such a display, but you were determined to find out.

Scurrying across the rooftops, you clear the distance between the edge of the town to the looming mansion. Having much experience running up walls and across water, you’re able to sprint up to the very roof of the building.

“Sho’nuff!” you shout. “Where the Hell are you?!”

Your words echo across an apparently empty rooftop, until….

Looking over your shoulder, you spot a shadowy figure bursting through the tiled roof and up into the night sky! Following quickly behind that figure, is a larger red and black figure grasping a katana.

Against the backdrop of the night sky, you watch as the second figure’s sword slashes through the air at such incredible speed that it leaves a shining blur shaped like a crescent moon. Soon that very sky begins to rain down blood upon the rooftop as the the first shadowy figure is cut in twain!

“Ha!” Sho’nuff grunts, landing upon the ground beside the two halves of his foe. “Punk-ass BITCH!"

Genesis Subsidiary

You're currently riding in a limousine to the airport. Across from you sits a young woman holding a beige folder. :You my friend have been granted the opportunity of a lifetime. You've been hired by Genesis Corp to act as the head scientist of a lab under a dummy company."

"You know the drill your job is to make weapons. I believe it says in here what you specialize in, but lets go over the broader terms." They've done their research you know this is all just for show. You already know you can't refuse... not that you'd want to mind you.

>Mechanics(15): The mechanics state deals with artificial creations and intricate machinery. Normally used in the development and improvement of weapons.

>Good Boy Points(0): One of the perks for working for Genesis is they can get you anything you need, but you need to prove yourself a useful asset.

>Funds(50): Money makes the world go round and you’re no different.

/qtg/ - Quest Thread General

This is a thread created for the discussion of quests and all things regarding them, as well as general whinging about different platforms and fatalistic predictions about the board's future.
Please do not shitpost and please ignore at any shit posters attempting to derail discussion or cause strife. Or at the very least make your shitposts entertaining. Outing yourself as severely mentally handicapped for example, while briefly entertaining, sort of derails discussion like nothing else.

>What the fuck is a quest anyway?
Take a choose-your-own-adventure book. Then, have one guy flip the pages while a horde of other guys scream at him to turn to whatever page each of them wants. In effect, this is the fundamental quest dynamic.

Useful links:
> (1/27/19)
This link contains numerous writing guides, general advice, and various quest tools and communities. It is recommended that you give this a glance if it's your first time to the board or thinking about QMing. (Still under revisions.)

Discord server:
Can provide useful feedback and critique to QMs looking for help and is another way to promote your quest. Is also a way for players to get in touch with their QMs if they are also on the Discord.
(Useful) Channels: General(quest discussion), The-Workshop(testing mechanics), Pitch(ideas & feedback), and Updates. The only rule is if you need to shitpost at least be entertaining about it.

Archive of quest reviews:
We recently got an influx of a few reviews and it would be cool to see it continue. This may sound shocking, but people like to hear opinions about quests. If you're feeling saucy then you ought to take a crack at it. It's not like you have a reputation to ruin.

> (Needs manual archival)

>QM Question
If you've recently or have ever gone on hiatus, what's a good way to reintroduce players back to your setting, without a summary?

>Player Question
Are you playing a quest that you'd consider a guilty pleasure/embarrassing to admit you read? What is it?
(Guilty pleasure as far as quests are concerned. Let's be real, questing itself is a guilty pleasure.)

>Universal Question
Has a single vote or event in a quest disturbed/disillusioned you enough to drop the quest outright? Either as a player or a QM.
(Though QMs shouldn't provide options that they don't want to write/veto-ing write ins they don't want, but that doesn't always happen)

A Hedge Knight: Prologue

hedgey boy
A young fourteen year old boy stares you down, brown-haired and fair faced. You know this lad to be educated, a noble, and currently, a god damn mess. You regard your reflection curiously, and wonder what to make of yourself before your stewards find you awake and out of bed.

>Handsome, if rugged. I bet the milkmaids down in the courtyard wouldn't mind a quick tumble before they go back to their duties.

>Just that, a mess. I need to get cleaned up and ready for the day's studies.

>A battle-weary hero, ready to practice his skills down in the courtyard with the master at arms!

>A mummy's boy, ready for fresh mutton from the kitchen. To elucidate your demand, you ensure the shout: "MUTTIES MUTTIES IM HUNGIES!" is audible throughout this portion of the keep.

>Intelligent, though that mind is masked behind your limpy exterior. With a keen eye and mind for strategy, both peace and wartime, you will go far as a leader.

Three Wolves Samurai Quest #6

Welcome to TWSQ, a quest set in the nart verse.

"Damn it!" Yuki yells. She throws her hands up at the gray sky in frustration before pulling off a blanket from the driver in the back. Nobu, as you've come to learn, is a rather sound sleeper and won't wake for anything short getting trampled on or run over. Or so that last day went, him having fallen out of the cart twice now. He won't miss it, or even notice. "Why is it so damned cold?!"

"A south wind and an arctic current wrapping around the peninsula firmly plants us in a polar vortex for most of the year," you answer. You are Eliko of the Land of Iron, apprentice to the legendary Master Mifune, recognized by the Oshiro Clan, and apparent heritage from beyond the western ocean. On top of that you lack chakra entirely, unable to to even muster a reaction from chakra induction paper. And you're enjoying the winter's bitter bite in nothing more than a bare blue yukata and wooden sandals.

"How can you stand it?" Dressed in some of the heaviest and least revealing ninja gear you've ever seen and now a woolen blanket, it's any wonder how she's not suffering heatstroke. With a hefty looking black flak jacket, arm and thigh protectors, and a purple parka she probably weighs more than yourself by a noticeable margin. "I mean, I like the cold but this is just painful."

"You get used to it." The wagon and foot train moves along at a slow pace, kept so as to not tire out the footmen or oxen. Twelve miles a day, making the roughly eighty mile journey take much longer than needed. Six days to be precise and it's only been two and a half. Two hundred footmen bring up the rear while sixteen samurai take the lead. You place just behind the samurai, taking up the radio cart. "Or you don't and you freeze to death."

"Reassuring." Yuki huddles up against you with a sigh. "No wonder you're not cold, you feel like a heater. So when are you going to put on the armor?"

"When it's needed I suppose."

"But everyone else is wearing theirs. Besides, isn't it a gift from your Lady friend?" She wiggles her eyebrows at you as if to suggest something. No more than an arrangement with an acquaintance. Though, perhaps some more thought into the matter is due. It can very well spell the Land of Iron's future after all. So long as a coup or the sort doesn't happen.

Imperial Conquest

Hello, I'm Typhus. Currently looking for players to try out and flesh out a Discord game called Imperial Conquest.

It's based on Warhammer 40k. You create and flesh out your Imperial Guard regiment and are tasked with supporting the colonization efforts of a world called Heracles IV. It's a turn-based game heavily based on builders.

It's pretty free-form though it is contained in turns and dependent on actions taken on these turns and on the rolls associated with these actions.

The objective is to have fun. Making some nice IG regiments and ensuring they go through hell for the Emprah, building up some nice lore for each regiment.

Since I'm a eurofag I'll be GMing during the afternoon and evening GMT+1.

CHAD isekai

One day you are dead lifting hard with your friends Chet and Eric, when all of a sudden you see a lanklet nerd come into the gyme. He looks like he is having a hard time understanding what do and eventually sits down and starts using one of the machines all wrong. Your friend has a laugh at his expense but you explain to Chet that the gym is a no judgment zone and that anyone looking to improve themselves should be welcomed. Chet apologizes for his transgression and promises to improve his behavior. You of course accept his apology and give him a high five for being cool about it.

You are about to start another set when suddenly a truck slams through the gym wall! Your quick eyes and sharp senses immediately notice that its on a collision course with several old people, a hand full f gym babes, the lanklet and a small box of unadopted puppies. Acting on instinct, as you often do, you jump up and push everyone out of the way to safety! Unfortunately the truck ends up hitting you due to your selfless act...

Orc Civilization Quest

'The Orcs are a curious bunch. To the outsider, the sight of their appearance, so similar to our own and yet so different at the same time, is more likely to create feelings of disgust than anything else. After all, how else is one to react to the sight of something with such a seemingly brutish appearance? Yet behind that visage lies a mind, a culture, far more complex than anything you might assume at first glance. And it is for that reason that we shall be studying their long history today, right from the very beginning. But as a starting point to all this, how about we begin with their basic anatomy?'

Pick ONE of the two options below for what type of Orc you're going to be.

>'In general, Orcs tend to be of a relatively short size, ranging from 5 feet tall to 5 feet 8. Their forms are of a skinny, weedy type, with leathery wrinkled skin that generally comes in ashy browns and greys. As for hair, they have little to speak of, with baldness not uncommon, general thinness of hair universal, and facial hair practically nonexistent. As for their faces themselves, they are sharp and harsh, with hooked noses, sharp teeth and ragged, pointed ears. All in all, it is little wonder that one feels disgust at the very sight of them.'

>'Perhaps the most striking thing about Orcs is their size, with the vast majority being taller than any of us, and would likely be even more so if they stood up straight. This size is something that also manifests itself in their very bodies, with large, powerful muscles being the norm. As for their faces, they are of a brutish sort, with great tusks jutting out of a protruding jaw and a small piggish nose, although perhaps the most strange characteristic of them all is the greenness of their skin. As such, when one sees an Orc, the first thought that comes to your mind is one of brutish bestiality, as like some simian granted thought. Yet this would be to underestimate the Orcs, and that has been the undoing of many an unfortunate man...'

Reborn a Dragon Quest 1: New beginnings

Reborn a dragon
In the Elklands, they have a saying. From savage Urik, to dignified Rarega, this phrase is shared. In Newborn Tolia and aged Karskia these words hold the same value and meaning. Words of warning and caution, a reminder of the horrors that cast their great shadows across the skies. Often repeated to tell another "this is a bad deal" "Don't trust him" and similar warnings.

"A dragon cannot be born without death!"

Old words, wise words. they come from an old weaver's tale, that dragons cannot come into the world without sorrow and pain to proceed them. That to be born, another being must die. And, though many legends are just that. this one rings with a tune of truth.

For long before the beast known as man forged the first kingdom, Rarega with shed blood, the Dragons sought to overthrow the gods of the world and were for dreadfully cursed for their pride and hubris to never again be gifted a soul by Life-weaver (Nor her successor, Soul-spinner) to be, as a race, dammed to the harvests of Death-writer (And later the hunt of his twin Successors, Last-friend and Final-Hunter) alone. But, such was there ageless pride, that instead of taking the lesson the gods had meant to them and retreating to quiet lives of introspection or selflessness, they broke a great taboo. And so they still live today, born as dragons, the great tyrants of the skies and all that toil beneath them. instead of the formless, soulless things the gods had saw fit to give them as children before they found the cracks in their curse.

And no man knows this truth, but all know the words that tell it.

"A dragon cannot be born without death"

For how else would souless things gain a soul? For the souls of the dead are all gathered up by the twin gods of death to be led to their twin cousins of life to pamper and weave new forms for. Souls cannot be created from nothing, lest for the handiwork of the gods. So what other way to find a soul for your child, but taking it from the children of men? stealing the very gift of the gods themselves out of pure envy, pride and greed.

For a dragon to be born, their mother must take them from their old life and body, to be born again as a greater being. and this, is where the story starts, with the thunder crack of wings

Shining like the brightest of gems and wildest of dreams, an expecting yet panicked mother soars through the kingdom of the goddess Wind-keeper. Far above ground and in the clouded fields of blue she searches and seeks.

"Did I not advise finding a suitable candidate BEFORE, Mating season?!" Her mortal servant whispered in her ear, clinging on mane and horn as his mistress flew through the sky as swiftly as a bolt of light, the wind cutting and howling at this intruder to its master's domain, trying to rip him from his own lord "excuse me for my impudence, but we are treading the path of"

Kingdom of Matriarchy

You live in the stone tower city of Valra. It's a Blue city so it is run by the Holy Matriarchal Order. Everything run by the Matriarchy is considered "blue" as it's the Nation-states color.

The Matriarchy dictates all men are to be slaves to women. With extremely limited exceptions. But they also believe in equality for all. It's complicated. But essentially men don't have any rights, and women have all the rights, and that's just how things go.

They're currently engaged in a longstanding war with the Red kingdom. The Red kingdom has traditional values, and their women are relegated to the kitchen, and assume traditional wife-like duties. They aren't quite slaves, but they certainly aren't on the same level as the men.

Anyhow, it's this attitude that has brought upon them the wrath of the Blue kingdom. For a woman to be lower than a man is blasphemy to the Holy Matriarchal Order. So they have been engaged in a long standing holy crusade against the Red kingdom because of it.

Rotten City II

'Undeath is one of the myriad forms of Corruption. It is a man whose soul was taken to empower a Demon or a Cambion. What remains is a husk, a deformed humanoid which barely resembles its former self and is naturally attracted to beings with souls. It attacks them in the faint hope of regaining what they once had.'

Inquisitor Farys' book 'On Corruption and its many Forms' revealed the many forms that Corruption could take. For many, Undeath was one of the most vile of all.

The presence of Undead is most unflattering for the actors of this city. The Governor and Clergy would soon start blaming each other for this grand mishap, and you were the one that would clean the mess. Both of them know that you will be the one writing the report on these events, you wonder which will contact you first to paint the other in a bad light.

There is an issue to dealing with Undead; they are extremely resilient and strong, though lacking in dexterity and intelligence. You could cut their head off and they would still shamble for a while before perishing. The solutions that you have available are fire or Blessings. The first one held an obvious danger: Setting the entire slums alight in but a few minutes, but the Undead melt away when set on fire, barely able to contain their pain. The second one implied a meeting with the Clergy and asking them to imbue your weapons with Blessings, with the added risk that you only had a limited number of attacks tied directly to the number of your weapons to take care of the Corrupted.

Taking care of Undeath is supposed to be work of the Clerics, but the reports came yesterday and you've seen no Cleric coming by to reassure you that the matter will be taken care of by their warriors. You must act now before this scourge worsens, otherwise the entire city could be engulfed by Corruption in but a few weeks.

Then there's the matter of Jen, who has been showing an increasing interest in going out to hunt with you today. You've got spare pistols and ammo to give her, but Undead are a risky bunch to take on and are easily underestimated. Still, giving her a practical fieldview of Corruption might deepen her faith in God further.

You will...
>Trust in fire and bullet.
>See the Clerics and request aid.

As for Jen...
>Arm her with two pistols and take her with you.
>Leave her studying in your office.

A Hollow Quest - 4

A Hollow Quest 4
Sorry this took so long. I needed a break from quest.
Previous Threads:

Now for your obligatory recap. Your name is Neo'verst Hennessy (a real fuckin mouthful) which you yourself came up with after you couldn't remember your real one. After years of fucking around as a ghost you finally turn into a Hollow. Saved some chick you named Caprice, and teamed up with her. Got super lucky and caught a Lieutenant of the branch of Soul Reapers operating in America off guard. Added a snake named Cleo to the group. Spent a couple weeks creating mini disasters to get souls to eat. Killed a man belonging to a mysterious organization called the Praetorians. Made a new Hollow called Zoe. More importantly remembered your life, and how you were a street racer with a kid on the way who's wife left you.

After all that beat the ass of some Fullbringer brothers sent after you by the Praetorians. You nearly killed one, but in exchange for keeping him alive the other has sworn to serve you. Which is now how you find yourself walking through the halls of Las Noches, the wounded brother in your hand. The Arrancar have agreed to save him in exchange for help finding out more about the Hollows attacking their home. You've left your Gillian companions at Las Noches while you've investigated in the living world for a lead. You also ran into the other brother Gabriel being chased by Praetorians.

You count it off. You still have the numbers advantage, but Mei is still on the edge of her seat and she’s managing to dictate the course of the match despite everything. “Ingrid, you have any theories on where they might be?” you ask.

Ingrid says, “Definitely looping to the south end of the city. My guess is they’re probably going to try and maybe set a rearguard on us to slow us down while Mei tries to hunt down Griselda’s location.”

Duchess calls you over the radio, responding to that. “We’re going to try and slow her down. If she wants to get to Griselda, she has to go past us! We’ll cut westwards and try and cut her off!”

“I’ll go with Duchess and back her up. If we can stop them for at least a couple of minutes, then we can squeeze them into a tight spot,” says Benny. “We might even be able to get a kill on Mei if at all possible.” Right then.

Maria says, “We’re really playing this match as if it were an elimination fight! I’m glad we came to help!”

“Like the Jason and the Argonauts!” Suvorov proclaims.

Right, with all that said and done, you think on it. Mei has to know that she’s going to get struck from the north and the south. She’s still got her team to think about out here too. She can get kills all she wants, but that won’t matter if she doesn’t have a team to back her up.

Oryola calls to you over the radio. “Elodie, what shall we do?”

You hop off the Rook, remove your goggles and stretch yourself out. It's good to be back on the front, you just wish it wasn't such a long ride. Luckily the snow isn't 3 feet high anymore.

"Hey hey!" You hear Pip call out. "Long time no see, buddy. Glad to have you back"

You step over and hug her. "Glad to be back" You say.

Pip squeezes, then releases you and peeks over your shoulder. "Where's everybody else?"

You point up. "The others are coming by airship"

"Ohhh yeah. That makes much more sense" She says. "But how come you came by ground?"

"Gretchen and I added some cool stuff to the Rook, and I wanted to test it" You say.

"Is she coming? I haven't heard much about who's actually on the airship" She says.

"Yeah. It's Gretchen and her assistant are coming

"Cheska's coming? I thought she was staying out of this for now" Pip says.

"She's been working hard to make sure she's ready" You say. "Wait 'till you see her. She's actually a pretty competent flier, and a good spearfighter now"

"Now that's something I gotta see" She says. "Didn't Cheska's last attempt at spear training end with her turning a bunch of training spears to ash?"

"She's more patient now" You say. "Like a lot more patient"

Pip giggles. "Anyway. There's like 5 different people who wanted to see you as soon as you arrived, so you should get a move on" She says.

"Lemme guess... Altea, Derrick... uhh..."

"Lyvia, and me~!" She says. "I was the only one with the free time to actually come out and say hi though"

You raise an eyebrow. "Glad I'm not eating into your schedule" You say.

Pip smiles.

Fate/City Akeldama

Waking up beckons a sickening sensation in your throat. In turn, you spit to your side in an ungraceful manner to rid yourself of it. Only then, do all your common respects - which have been taught to you over the years like any other child - returns to your fully aware head.

A realization comes. The last thing that you remember is the darkness of your room; nightime it was while you began to sleep for tomorrow's day. But here, the place that you find yourself in, isn't your bedroom.

It's a corporate building, however, the walls are eroded to a high enough level to obtain your concern. For a better look beyond your mysterious site of awakening, you then seek an open window past the vacant cubicles.

As far as you can manage to percieve is a giant city. The sky is tainted in an ominous gray and down below are desecrated remains of previous human civilization. Asphalt, vehicles, and familiar apartments of urban living destroyed in an apocaltyptic way.

A particular tower that stands alongside the results of the past's ravages is wholly pure, looming over the inferior state of the surrounding structures with pride. From the top of its body is a beam of light, reaching above the darkened clouds.

These things are yours, they have two arms, two legs, a torso in the middle, head on top, genitals between the legs. They appear to come in two broad categories dependent on the genitals they have. Sometimes they will make sounds out of the hole they breath and eat from and these sounds seem to make you more you somehow.
It would probably be best if you gave the things that make you up a name, it would make referring to them easier.

STAR WARS: Dark Empire V #4

You are Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine and the war for your Empire seems to be swinging in your favor. A daring assault by Admiral Lady Alana Tyrna has secured Imperial Center and driven Thrawn’s forces from the Core. In the weeks following, Grand Admiral Oxtroe’s inexorable advance had battered Thrawn’s dispersed forces. In truth, you were surprised by the ease of your victories so far.

You had suffered losses, it was true, and many worlds willingly fell to Thrawn’s banner, but whatever lightning victory Thrawn was evidently hoping for hadn’t yet materialized. Instead of a steady defense, he’d changed tactics and now conducted hit and fade strikes across the frontier, massing forces to lash out before dispersing into hyperspace, defying pursuit.

“It’s time to end this ridiculous engagement,” you say, surveying the holographic images of your surviving admirals. Oxtroe, Yazz, Daala, Lobkin, Trier, and Tyrna. Zahn had died in the counter-attack on Brentaal when his flagship was destroyed, and Lennox was presumed killed during Thrawn's opening attack.

“Thrawn will be crushed and we will return stability to the Empire.”

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.
Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the the PTU system, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves and also may leave you open to an interrupt, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.

Pokemon and trainers are unique, and may have certain specializations, skills, or other things that the video-game mechanics might not allow. Some examples: That kung fu Bellsprout in the anime, that crystal Onix, or a Roggenrolla that can fly. Herb's perception skills, pokemon knowledge, context clues in general, and other things will hopefully come into play to avoid completely unfair, unforeseeable bullshit, but expect more bullshit from more advanced trainers.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

Mace (Roggenrola)
Belladonna (Roserade)

Valkyria Chronicles: Pacific Theatre #25

You are Subaru Kurokawa, son of Vice Admiral Kagetora Kurokawa of the Zipang Combined Fleet, and the battle chief of the super battleship Yamato. With your country under the subjugation of an ascendent Tengar Khaganate, the remnants of Zipang’s military establishment, along with powerful allies from the East Europan Imperial Alliance, came up with a daring plan to restore your country’s independence: Operation Ten-Go.

Despite some rough run-ins with the Khaganate’s Beiyang Fleet, your crew was successful at hijacking the Valkyrur-powered Yamato, seizing not only the battleship, but also several fighter prototypes, and unexpectedly, a princess in tow. Now, after a short skirmish with the Nanyang Fleet in your trek south, Yamato has finally reached her first destination: Formosa.

It was also here where you were given your first shore leave. Then, singling you out during dinner, the acting Captain of the Yamato, Nagamasa Suwabe, revealed a great secret about Zipang’s national treasure and his intention to use said treasure to rebuild a new ‘Zipang’ somewhere else. At the same time, he also issued a grave warning about foreign actors who had their eyes primed for said treasure.

As the preparations in Formosa continued, it appears that the Khagnate has began making their moves as well, starting off with a direct attack upon Amekou, Formosa’s northernmost port. You emerged unscathed and proceeded to investigate a downed enemy bomber, and after a brief skirmish, managed to capture one of its surviving crew members.

Beyond the Pale Civ #3

Last time in Beyond the Pale, a brief war against Natoya ensured your dominance on the Bay of Seals, at least for a little while. Then, religious turmoil spread among your neighbors before finally striking Taelia, leaving several dead, and more injured.

You find no evidence of corruption, though it is apparent that the Erodhs are trying to set themselves up in the priesthood again. They also appear to be bickering with the Allos over some matter pertaining to the treasury, but then again, they often squabble.

The sailors who returned from the south make up the leaders of the cult. Those who have made the journey, but do not make up members of the Hilgot expedition, are mid-tier members of the faith. The lowest rung is occupied by those who are faithful, but have not ventured south, often due to the dangers involved with the journey. The religious unrest is directly caused by these cultists, who have been agitating in the chiefdoms of the Lavingi and Hilgot. They are assisted by the same beasts who attacked Taelia, you find, and you bear witness to one such event during your stay in Lavingi territory. You also learn that Hilgot has its own native goddess, the River Queen, and that part of the religious struggle comes from the fact that both the Hollow Man (god of the Lavingi) and the River Queen demand human sacrifice. This new god requires no such thing. Lastly, you hear that the orc nations to the west of the two chiefdoms affected remain undisturbed by this violence.

Give me a second roll please.

At the end of last thread, the vote was undecided, so the year hasn't progressed. Rather than just doing faction projects, let's try to get some votes in, shall we?

Wendigo: A Worm Quest Part 7

Windego quest
(Welcome back friends! If I remember correctly we had two rolls of 18 [DUBS] for the actions of training, and looking for work around the compound. I will likely make this first post, and maybe one update before sleeping. Firstly though, a nice poem.)

Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind.
Because your lover threw wild hands toward the sky
And the affrighted steed ran on alone,
Do not weep.
War is kind.

Hoarse, booming drums of the regiment,
Little souls who thirst for fight,
These men were born to drill and die.
The unexplained glory flies above them,
Great is the battle-god, great, and his kingdom—
A field where a thousand corpses lie.

Do not weep, babe, for war is kind.
Because your father tumbled in the yellow trenches,
Raged at his breast, gulped and died,
Do not weep.
War is kind.

Swift, blazing flag of the regiment,
Eagle with crest of red and gold,
These men were born to drill and die.
Point for them the virtue of slaughter,
Make plain to them the excellence of killing
And a field where a thousand corpses lie.

Mother whose heart hung humble as a button
On the bright splendid shroud of your son,
Do not weep.
War is kind.

Lich-King Reborn as a Thrall

Along the walls of the buried arteries of a decrepit gothic castle there sat rows upon rows of mouldering coffins. They stood upright, as if their occupants were not at rest, but merely standing at attention, just as any dutiful army should in times of peace.
But no call ever came for these undead soldiers. And so there they slumbered, rotten flesh rotting further, arms and armor rusting in the tepid subterranean air. The untreaded hall remained as still and silent as the graveyard it so resembled, unstirred by even vermin and—
A muffled screech reeked out from one of the coffins, like a fishhook dragging on stone. The coffin shook, its wormeaten lid creaking, groaned, and finally breaking open with a fibrous crack. Out from the coffin fell a single skeletal thrall, landing on the ground with a clatter of bones and metal.
You are the thrall. The thrall is you.
‘RREARGHH!’ you howled, unable to produce anything more articulate with a thrall’s limited dialect.
You didn’t know what happened, but you knew it was a cuck who did it to you. A paladin cuck, and his cuck party, who probably only ever got off by fellating their own swollen dicks after being greeted as the “triumphant heroes” in little peasant hamlets.
They had had a holy relic… a sword, maybe? A sword that could only be used by celibates. The Vengeance of Sophine, or some equally saccharine nonsense like that. You didn’t think something than ran off the power of blueballs would be so powerful, but apparently all that pent-up libido packed a wallop.
You remembered the battle with the paladin and his party. Being blasted by a beam of white light. And then… this. You woke up in the body of the thrall, in what looked like one of your castle’s storage crypts.
‘Yreah?’ you grunted to yourself.
Had none of your other fail-safes fucking worked? You had spent the better part of a century preparing dozens of different contingencies and back-ups to recover yourself, in at least some way, if you were destroyed— and out of all of them, the one that resurrected you in the body of a lowly thrall was the one that saved you?
You were going to find that paladin cuck and stomp his throat. Then find his hometown, turn it into a fucking gulag, and reanimate him and make him the warden for the rest of eternity. You weren’t sure how you’d torture the inhabitants yet, but you felt like it would involve… cacti.
But that was for later. A tasty reward you had to look forwards to after unfucking this festering mess. You groped for the trove of profane, eldritch, and infernal arcane might you had amassed from centuries as a practitioner of the dark arts and felt… nothing.

Librarian on Earth: A Warhammer 40k X Highschool DxD One-Shot Quest

You are floating in what should be the warp, but you are not sure. As a Space Marine Librarian, you expected to be devoured by the Daemons you’ve denied your whole life (And maybe unlife). Without the warp carnivorous chewing you out though, you try your best to remember the past that you seemingly forgotten.

Welcome everyone to my Space Marine X Highschool DxD one shot. I’m REDthunderBOAR, the guy running the Neet turned Goblin Slayer quest. This here is to supplement a 1-2 year time skip for the other series and give me something else to write.

I will admit, I’m not planning to go much into writing about boobs and Issei’s lust. What I like about DxD is while its cute on the outside, its fucking Grim when you think about the lore. I mean, there’s literally a Warp Tare right next earth and a Dragon/C’tan living in it and the fact that Rias, the main heroine, basically allowed Issei to die just so she could turn him into a Devil Servant. Not as dark as 40k, but there's a reason you don't trust things that are called Devils, Demons, or Daemons in any universe.

For this quest, I am changing the rolls because I don’t plan to crunch numbers but write. With that, I give you a fun system I saw.

>Rolls are done with a d100, best of three unless crit failure.

>Crits occur with on <10 and >90 respectively.

>Modifiers exist and will be granted at character creation. Doing so, you have a chance to avoid critical failures or succeed based on these.

>>Simply put, if you rolled a 79 on a steal check as a Blood Raven, it jumps to a 99 because I’m giving meme abilities +20. That means you succeeded in stealing the item and NO ONE noticed. This stems to Raven Guard coming out of nowhere, Smurfs being good at everything, and Salamanders with fire.

>>>On a third note, this means you could guarantee that some actions will Never. Crit. Fail.

>Roll when I do ‘>Roll’

Besides that the usual:
>I got final Say

>I will almost always be jumping computers, so the IP and username changes a lot. Keep that in mind if posts from ‘The REDthunderBOAR’ or ‘redthunderboar’ come up.

>Updates when I can, which is quite a lot really.

>As always, try your best to think outside the box. I would love it if you guys do funny shit like try and become high schoolers. I will almost always give leeway to these actions.

No One Gets Left Behind Quest #12

left behind
Getting ready for a scouting mission is always a big thing. Even the training ones back before you deployed here were always treated with an air of seriousness despite the non-lethality of it. But here, on your first mission of all things? Now you know why they were always so strict about getting things in order. You’ve sorted your armor, your poncho is still in surprisingly good shape despite all that it’s been through. Not to mention the Carbine you scavenged from that retrieval boat way back when.

You’ll be honest, the days and weeks are starting to blend together. You’re not even sure anymore how many days you’ve been down here. You know it’s the morning of this day. But how long ago the invasion was? It was escaping you now. It’s definitely been more than a week at least. Maybe at least two. But what matters now is trying to survive until the Navy comes back or until you can call for help or even until you can get this ship into orbit. If possible at least.

However, there’s one thing nagging you about this. The night you brought Rutledge back you heard that roar. They told you it was a One-Eyed Rex that had followed them. You really didn’t think much of that Rex you zapped with the DAB. You thought that if he didn’t have his ego destroyed, he’d eventually die of his wounds. But nope. Still alive apparently. And for whatever reason that –angers- you. You spent a lot of effort trying to kill that beast. And now it’s still alive. It’s been harrowing not just Cope’s group before you met them but also Rutledge’s as well.

That’s why in your hands you were looking at a DAB. The only DAB you have here in fact. You want to make sure you use it wisely. If you’re going to use it. You sling it on the back by your satchel, then go back to inspecting your carbine. Need to make sure it’s all ready.

The door to the armory opens. “Hey, buddy.” You look back to see Rutledge leaning by the doorframe. “Word on the street is that Harrell’s sending you on a scout mission.”

“I am,” you say. “He wants a report on how Hill 47 is set up. My guess is that it’s dug in tight. Last time I was there…” you get a flash of how Joffrey was before you rescued him. “It wasn’t great.”

“So I hear,” says Rutledge. He folds his arms, smirking a little.

“You coming along?” you ask.

Barbarian Quest

You are Breda, half-troll barbarian! Daughter of Strokk, famed warlord of the frozen south, increasingly long and harsh winters have led you to fleeing that land like many others in search of more habitable climes. Having come to a new land of green fields and forests and sunny days, called Tomaren by its inhabitants, you feel you could call this place home. Alas, in fleeing your homeland you could bring only what you could carry, certainly not enough to build a new life here.

Fortunately, you are a barbarian! As capable of taking what you want by force as you are at living off the land, you should have no trouble finding your footing. And who's to stop you? From your experience so far the people of this land mostly seem like feeble sheep for peasants, lazy dogs for soldiers and dull shepherds for nobility, from too many years of peace. Easy pickings for a wolf like you!

>Something of a continuation of a previous quest, an open-ended barbarian jaunt in a fantasy setting, for fun

Boruto Quest Shippuden Part 3

This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son, several years after his class has graduated from the Academy. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present.

You play as Takeshi. A highly capable Chunin, who is returning from years of training with Sasuke Uchiha. You've been studying and preparing for a mission to the land of Grass.

Hexpedition: The Pit [Skirmish]

hexpedition the pit title
. . . what happened last night? The memory is blurred, a winding line in the neural substrate that ends in the imprint of pain. The soft drip of old water leaks in and with, the awareness to take older stone and dry wood in haphazard erection by the mad or those lacking such oversight as engineers might bring.

Eyes peer from above jagged lines of gleaming, white teeth. They seem happy to consciousness has found root at last.

Grinning warriors casually clutched spears seldom bode well.

Stickman Tribes Evo #2

Welcome to Stickman Tribes Evo, a game where you take control of a tribe and evolve it culturally, technologically, and historically through time. You play as a tribes and compete against the other tribes to try to dominate and become the greatest civilization of all.

New Players Guide:
>Every turn is two weeks in game
>Every turn each tribe can do two actions and research
>Research - Laws, Technologies, Arts, Customs
>Action - Trading, Hunting, Scouting, Organizing
>At least one player per tribe, no upper limit on tribe members
> Only TWO actions and ONE research PER TRIBE, must be agreed by majority
> Please read sheet to verify
1) whether a tech/culture has already been researched
2) whether OP fucked up in updating sheets
>To avoid salt from other races, turns must be feasible and believable considering the situation and knowledge of the race at the time ("Done IC"). Being specific in turns are also preferred as it reduces salt & helps writing
> WAR MUST be declared the turn before any war action happens, once war is declared, an attack may happen at any point until PEACE is declared
>No Secret turns EXCEPT in WAR.
>If you have a disagreement in tribe and cannot come to an agreement, civil war can occur. Civil war will stop ALL development of the tribe until it is resolved. The loser and all their allies are removed from the game.

Other Mechanics:
> Combat (NPC) - one commander per tribe, roll xd100 where x is the number of GROUPS of units you wish to fight (ask oldfag or OP if unclear)
> Culture - After exposure to other cultures, rolls can be made to determine how foreign cultures can affect your civilization's society
> Nationhood - Once a tribe reaches 1000+ population, they are eleigible for nationhood. They will then need a constitution, flag, currency, formal military, and more than one town. The constitution MUST include established geographic borders, name of your state, and governing body.
> Economy - One a civ implements a tax, there will be a stream of income to your treasury. You will be able to purchase additional actions with this income. Too high a tax, however, will affect mood.

What has happened so far:
>Emor meets Chian Empire and get sunflowers
>Icryllians found their religion
>Hurantals manage to domesticate a huge 8ft bunny
>Dagonians start a quest to avenge a ghost

Another Fucking Dragon Ball Quest

Vegeta One-Handed Vertical
So, I'm bored out of my mind and have nothing else to do, and you know what that means; time for a probably failed project!

This is my first quest, and one of my first posts on 4chan/nel, so this can only end badly! Prepare for madness, friends! Welcome to Another Fucking Dragon Ball Quest: Of Dubious Quality Edition.

Quest starter post and rules coming eventually, nothing is pre-typed and I'm pretty much winging this. I hope someone has fun, at least. If poor timing kills this, I'll probably try again later.

Necromancer Detective Quest 30

Many things have led up to this moment, and quite honestly Henry is suprised that he's found himself here. He's going to stab Vermilion in the back and side with the fey creature Marlene. The party, the assassination, all afterthoughts now. Things will proceed swiftly from here, if the ball gets rolling.

Quest rules:
1. All dice rolled are assumed to be D100 unless otherwise stated
2. The first two rolls will be given far greater importance, but additional rolls, good or bad, will affect the outcome. This choice ultimately falls to the Lorekeeper, odd circumstances may cause him to change how the story progresses (a ton of crits for instance)
3. All dice rolls are final
4. Critical fails are considered to be between 1-5, Critical hits are between 95-100. Crits overpower any other roll except another crit. In the rare chance that a crit fail and crit success happen. The Lorekeeper will do something interesting from a story angle. Similarly, rolling 2 of the same number will be considered a MEGA crit, just pray its two high numbers.
5. Near misses may occur, where a rolled number is close to the required threshold, whether over or under. This can have an impact on how the story proceeds. However these are up to the decision of the Lorekeeper.
6. Sometimes there are optional choices one may participate in, these will generally NOT be taken unless there are multiple posters who wish it, assuming there are multiple posters in the thread
7. There are often times choices with multiple parts, each part is counted separately, unless otherwise stated, sometimes rolls will be required before counting the second, third, etc, part
8. There will be “Time Limited” decisions, in which characters may only do a set number of actions, these will be clearly marked. Generally you will only be able to choose one decision per ‘round’.
9. Rules may be subject to change between threads, but will not change during the same thread. These rules are what we will follow for the remainder of this thread.

Halo: Wolfpack (thread 3)

glassed planet

The Dawn’s Early Light shuddered as it exited slipstream space, the large vessel requiring a lot more brute force to return to normal space than the small cutter that you had arrived on Anchor 5 in.

“Slipstream deceleration confirmed sir, we have arrived at Edrianus II.” Your navigation officer, Elias Toulali, reported. As if to state the obvious.

“Good, take down the radiation shields, I’d like to see what’s in front of us. Comms, try and find the rest of the wolfpack. Weapons, get all weapons systems online.” You ordered the crew, your crew, to action. And within seconds, the radiation shielding plates that covered the bridge’s windows were lowered. Allowing all within to see the aftermath of the discovery of a human world.

Edrianus II had once been an ideal world, it’s rich, biodiverse continents and deep oceans were perfect for human settlement. In fact, it was slightly more habitable than earth itself, with a strong ozone layer. The first settlements of Luxor and Elysium city were built from the hulls of the Phoenix class colony ships that had delivered the first settlers, and soon grew into the largest settlements on the planet. However, the world was discovered by the Covenant five years after they found harvest. A fleet of UNSC vessels, supported by prowlers and armed merchant vessels made a valiant stand to defend the world from the invaders, but failed in the end. Almost the entire fleet was destroyed, with the survivors barely escaping along with the surviving civilian transports.

And with orbital superiority established, the covenant took their time glassing the major population centres, outlying settlements, and any other signs of human presence on the planet. Leaving the world forever changed as a result.

“Sir, I’m looking over the net for signals from other UNSC vessels. But I’m not seeing anything. “Your communications officer, Bradley Horten, notified you. “I think we’re alone here.”

This was not good. You were expecting to at least be contacted by one of the other vessels in your wolfpack. But neither of them seemed to have shown. Maybe you got to the party early?

NOTE: Any option with a (1dXX) on the end requires you to roll 1 dice of whatever the XX value is, plus whatever the “+” number is.
>Look for the rest of your wolfpack, they shouldn’t be too hard to find (1d20+4)
>Begin searching the northern graveyard, you might as well begin your mission properly (1d20)
>Run silent and passive, see what you can observe.
>Other (write in)

Escaped Bioweapon Quest

The restraints about your limbs loosen slightly as the chamber you have spent the majority of your existence in shakes slightly, the dim overhead lighting flickering. The chemical sedatives being pumped into your body slow from a steady flow, to a trickle, to nothing. Little by little, what passes for the remnants of your "mind" begins to come to the forefront, realizing that for the first time in living memory, you are not bound to this wall. If "joy" or "relief" were emotions you were capable of feeling you would surely revel in them but for now all you can feel is hunger and apprehension.

Surely the men in white will return to jab more needles into your flesh, to cut away more pieces of your body and then leave you suffering and bleeding until you heal enough for their next visit? You always heal... The wounds never stay long enough for you to leave this place forever.

You run your tongue along your teeth, the sharpened shards of enamel and bone pricking the tissue of your tongue as you blink your eyes slowly. Veins stand out in your limbs as you strain against the loosened restraints, the lighting changing to a dim red as a new alarm begins blaring.

>What Type of Bioweapon are you?
>Mutated Human: you have lost your humanity but not your mind. Fight for your life and hope for a cure.

>Engineered Weapon: Created in a lab, born in a tube, you are a living weapon. Pain is all you know, hate is all you feel.

>Prototype Cyborg: The Flesh was weak so it was improved. Not much of you is original but your rage.

>Other (write in)

>What facility are you in?

>Mobile Transport (a armored train being derailed)

>International Waters (a disguised Cargo ship)

>Research Lab (underground facility)

FUCK QUEST 3, Episode 3: "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Mama"

You are Alabaster Soliloquy, weeaboo inseminator and inseminator of weeaboos.

-You told Less Filling Rose about your uncomfortable encounter with a girl you believe to be Camelia, who is posing as Great Taste Rose's little sister.
-Rose: Origins showed you video evidence to the contrary -- the Camelia who killed Darkbloom isn't the same girl you remember. So what's more likely: you're wrong, or reality is wrong?
-A diversion with Whitney where you had some fun on Alex and Ro1e took your mind off things for the moment.
-You met with Galatea and did your usual ritual of seeing eye to eye, so to speak: your ocular implants have a bizarre mirror-reflected-in-a-mirror effect when you focus them on each other. The result is a dizzying high.
-You brought Galatea to the hospital where Cerise is in a coma, so she could help Dr. Carte wake her up. The operation was an unmitigated failure.
-Meanwhile, Whitney's presentation to the most powerful people in the tech world was a bust, and yet another attempt to save Darkbloom Analytics -- by monetizing a safeguard against Sand Reckoner -- is DOA.
-You hung out with Whitney and the actress playing her in a film, for some... interesting repartee in a hot tub.
-You went on a date with Rose mk 2. The goal: use her to get close enough to her sister to figure out the truth.
-The result: you fucked Rose二 in a karaoke booth. Sho ga nai.
-But it was not for naught. Her supposed sister, Amber, picked the two of you up afterwards. Her behavior and personality is exactly in line with the Camelia you remember.
-At Rose2's house, you snooped in Amber's room, and got caught; then, oh yeah, you saw your mother -- who's been dead for more than five years.
-Without having time to process that, you got news that your sister is suddenly waking up from her coma.

Resurrection of the Invincible #2

yet another generic fist picture don't pay it any mind
”You don’t think my sister got kidnapped by a bunch of weird fist fanatics, do you?” You ask the Chief, new thoughts running wildly through your head.

The Chief lets out a strong chuckle, but composes himself upon seeing your distraught face.

“Son, as odd of a man that Master Shinzo is, I don’t think he’d go around kidnapping young girls. Think it through. What possible motive would he have for kidnapping anyone, let alone your sister? You wouldn't happen to be a... fighter of some sort, would you?”

You hate to think about it, but you begin to get a sinking feeling this might have something to do with your father.

“And besides, while you claim to have found both the torn uniform strip and the strip belonging to what I assume to be the Fist of Heaven, there’s no guarantee that they are indeed related. Even if they were, it would be wrong of us to assume that one party performed a kidnapping on another. If you were to ask me, I’d even say there’s a strong possibility multiple people were kidnapped today.”

His expression becomes stern.

“That just makes it all the more important we begin our investigation in earnest. In the meantime, it’s all I can ask of you to remain as calm as possible while we figure out everything that’s going on. We don’t know much of anything quite yet, but rest assured, my men will get to the bottom of this, and we will get your sister back.”

He turns to the officer, nodding to him.

“I trust you to handle this case, Avery.”

As suddenly as he arrived, the Chief departs, leaving the three of you.

“He… knows me by name? But I’ve never spoken personally to the man himself!” The officer says, as though a child being praised by an adult.

“So, uh…” Xavier begins, frustrated with the man, “You gonna do anything to help our sisterless man over here?”

“Huh? What? O-oh, right. Don’t worry young man, we’ll have your sister back soon enough. So sit tight, and most importantly, don’t do anything rash. Got that?”

“Right,” Xavier responds, “Well, whatever. I’m outta here. Good luck with your sister.”

Xavier stares at you for a moment, holding his hand up to his face, and promptly turns to exit the building. With that, you’re left alone with the officer for a while, and then ultimately to your own thoughts.

The Chief told you to wait while things were handled, but you can’t just do nothing, right? That would just eat at you. How long would it take for anything to happen? What could be happening to Aya during all that time? Who knows where she even is right now?

You try to think of your options as your head starts reeling. You think about what Xavier did just now. Did he really just decide to stop trying to get you arrested for punching him in the face? Did he just forget, simply give up, or did he feel bad for you? There’s really only one way to know for sure, right?

So what’ll you do?

>Follow Xavier to question him.
>Head home and just try to take everything in.
>Any other bright ideas?

The Great Tribulation #2 - An Apocalyptic Quest

The year is 2001. The planet known as Earth, the only planet in the Universe that sustains life, is in ruins. Since the end of the Great War, several allied nations had agreed upon merging at the behest of the Lodge, a secret organization that ruled the allied nations as a shadow government from behind the scenes. USA, Great Britain, France and the British satellite states merged to become the United World Dominion, a nation that promised to bring peace and prosperity to all of mother Earth through democracy and the power it bolstered. Many European, African and Asian countries subsequently entered defensive pacts with the UWD, whether by consent or under the threat of force by the UWD's colossal military. The UWD was opposed by the newly arisen Soviets and Nazis, who along with their Imperial Japanese and Chinese allies, swore to protect the world's independence against the 'singular world government' the UWD would try to usher in.

It took until the 90s since the cold war began in the 40s for the UWD and the Soviet-German-Japan-China alliance to finally reach their boiling points and descend into conflict. Nuclear weapons struck major capitals while cities burned, and all around the globe were millions of soldiers and civilians scrambling as everywhere became a battleground. The World War had destroyed society as all knew it, and before long, millions were dead. People began to despair. And so in the aftermath of the War, the great horns of the apocalypse were blown from the sky above. The skies and Earth were cracked open, and from them came the Angels and the Demons, seeking to bring salvation or corruption to what life remained on Earth.

You are Jane Rayner, a promising young girl from Great Britain with a broken leg trying to make it in this world today. Who but God knows lied ahead for you in this terrible future?

Tournament Fighter Quest #3

You are in an elevator.

It’s a large elevator, with plenty of room for the two suitcases and backpack you have. There are golden colored hand rails along the walls and a floor that resembles marble. It’s an elevator towards the center of the Island Shangri-La hotel in Hong Kong. It’s an elevator that contains you, and a rather uncomfortable looking young man, probably a local. He’s two inches shorter than you, weak looking, with long dark hair tied up in a knot and secured out the back of a baseball cap. Early twenties at the latest. He’s visibly nervous in your presence.

In two days you have your first internationally televised fight. This stage of the tournament is double elimination, so the stakes aren’t quite as high, and it’s likely you will see the same opponent down the road. You’re facing off against Belladonna, a fan favorite fighter. She’s a jpop idol who got into fighting as a publicity stunt. She shocked Akibahara when she ended up not just winning, but devastating her opponent, a professional MMA fighter from the US. She’s got a natural knack for combat, which she has since supplemented with training in judo.

The elevator is headed for a penthouse apartment. You’ve brought with you several sets of civilian clothes in case you wanted to check out the local scene under cover. You have a practical, modest swimming suit for training purposes, and two different fight outfits. The first is the grey gi you wore during your fight with Anatoly. The second is a modified Politsiya uniform, dark blue in color, and with the official slacks replaced with similarly colored sweatpants. Keeps movement free but has an official look to it. You may yet acquire or create more fight outfits as you progress.

Bioweapon Hunter Quest 20

Bioweapon Hunter Quest OP alt
Just a quick update, due to some last minute plans I won't be able to post reliable for the first couple hours or so, but I'm still posting this just to get the thread up, so just bear with it for a little while!

Currently, you were being pursued by a police T-Doll who seemed hell bent on apprehending you under any means necessary.

To be fair, you did antagonize her quite a bit, but that was sort of the whole point of this little exercise you were participating in. You take another look in your rearview mirror, and grimace when you see Grizzly still on your tail, the lights and siren on her bike blinking and shrieking as she slowly but surely closes the distance between you. Her eyes were hidden behind those mirrored sunglasses she was wearing, but you didn't want to know what they looked like at this point anyways.

Currently, you were driving down a long, wide street. Beside a few parked cars, it was basically a straight shot down. You could attempt to outrun Grizzly and get out of her sight. Alternatively, you could swing into one of the many narrow side streets and alleys and attempt to break contact that way.

Your final option was to use some of your collected toys. They were nonlethal for the purposes of the exercise, of course, but would still pack a punch nonetheless.

>Try to outrun her.
>Try to outmaneuver her.
>Let's try out these toys.

Body Horror Quest, 9th Vein

Body Horror Quest, 9th Vein
Previous Thread: >>3215073

Character Abilities:

* * * * *

Your name is Shu, and though it has been two weeks since you woke to find the world you once knew replaced by a hellscape of flesh and bone, the horrors of your past continue to plague you. You stand in the middle of a clearing somewhere within the labyrinthine confines of an artificial hedge maze, reeling from what you just experienced. The disembodied swarmling claw clutched in your left hand tumbles to the ground, your grip going slack as you stumble backwards, away from the imitation oak that looms over you and your team.

Next to you, B’ni’s eyes go wide at what you unwillingly etched into the trunk and, with a savage kick of her greave, carves through the five damning words without a second thought. She immediately turns to you, concern for you in her luminous green eyes as she gently places her hands on your shoulders.

“It was her, wasn’t it?” She asks softly, trying to meet your vacant gaze as you stare at the spot she just struck through. You nod, finally daring to meet her eyes with your own. Gina steps up beside you, glancing to the tree before leaning in for a hug.

“We’ve got your back, Shu.” She murmurs reassuringly while rubbing the curvature of your lower spine, just below your hive. “We’ll find a way to fix this…I know you feel like you’re not in control, but together, we can be.”

“Maybe we can all work together to get rid of it?” B’ni muses aloud, a spark of inspiration lighting up her eyes as Rath backs away from the tree.

“Guys, I hate to break up the comfort party,” Rath begins as she throws out her arm, forcing the three of you back as she moves away from the oak, “but the tree’s fuckin’ moving and I don’t like that shit at all.”

You whirl from the red-head’s face to the trunk of the ancient tree, watching its surface shift and warp, parting down the middle as a form emerges from within its writhing core, as though birthed directly from the arbor itself.

Machinist Quest

"Can you fix it?" The man with the cigar is not a regular to the shop. Regulars in your part of town rarely come in wearing suits.

"H-how much did you say--"

He reaches into his breast pocket and lays down three flat cubical disks. Crypchips, each one worth around a 100 credits, depending on the current exchange rate. "And three more once it's done."

Six hundred credits might not mean much to some folk, but to you it is a fortune. Even a kind of miracle.

"Customer, Pig?" Calls your master, from the back. This is followed by the distinct popping sound of an electrical short, and your master's colorful euphemisms for rogue circuitry. The man with the cigar drums his fat fingers on the counter, waiting for an assessment.

The spiderdrone is barely even damaged: a broken leg segment, a dented hull, and something about a borked targeting system. Three months rent for not more than three hours work. The only problem is, your master explicitly forbids working on miltech (or "killtech", as he likes to call it) and you if you get caught...well, you don't want to think about it.

>Take it under the table, your master never has to know and 600 credits is just too much to turn away
>This guy looks like trouble and is that...blood on that crypchip? Better turn it down.
>If he can do 6 crypchips, he can do 10. Or if not, at least all 6 up front, you're risking your job after all
