Go /p/ro:
• Please post images that are JPG format, smaller than 1 MB, and/or about 1000 pixels on the longest side.
• Expect to be judged harshly. Learn to deal with it.

Want:
• We come here for photos, so post yours as often as possible, even if "image unrelated" to your text.
• "Flickr/500px/Tumblr/Facebook/Portfolio" threads are for critique and networking
• Use "Recent Photos" threads if you are shy or only want to post a couple of photos.
• Shared raw files which we can collectively edit for discussion of post-processing techniques, are encouraged.
• Use the catalog to consolidate similar topics (photographic themes, images or technical gear threads)

Do Not Want:
• Go to >>>/r/ for specific Photoshop requests.
• Gear threads are discouraged, but identified as necessary. Many users simply hide these threads.

IRIX 150mm f2.8 Lens Macro (on Pentax K2 Mark II)

1133-TG-rush
Does anyone have opinions on this lens, experience, setting suggestions, sweet spot settings? How about the IRIX brand in general?
I just unboxed the IRIX 150mm late Friday night, haven't had a chance to really get out and test it yet. I slapped it on my K1, its a nice solid lens, feels great, nice balance. I haven't read any bad reviews but would like to hear some input on photographers who are actually using it ( +1 if you are using it on a K1) in real world scenarios. It's a manual focus only. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Pic related, my K1/Irix. Sorry I have no sample images, haven't used it yet...

babby's first fullframe

IMG_0395
I bought a Canon 5D MK1 a few months ago. These are some photo's since I've owned it. I haven't used it as much as I thought I might, so maybe I'll sell it. Getting used to editing raw files is probably the biggest motivation to keep it. That and the ability to borrow lenses from work.

Anyways, tell me how bad these are. Ordered from oldest to newest. No particular patterns or theme.

Buying fake instagram likes

1200px-Instagram_logo_2016.svg
I am trying to re-use and old profile with quite few followers but now has a low engagement. And I am tempted to buy likes.

The problem is... if my pictures get suddenly 500 fake likes each one, will instagram notice and fuck me up in the future?

If I add fake likes but not suddenly, for example 2 each min, does it solves anything or is still a risk?

Everytime I come to this board I'm turned off because you all value the quality of photography over the actual content. Photography is supposed to tell a story and spread a meaning, an idea or a concern in the world. You take a photo which is a time capsule, a moment in time and place that only you seen and you show how you interpreted the world through your lense. The best photos provoke and motivate the person viewing your photos to go out and do something positive in the world and change it for the better.

I'm looking for a pocketable 35mm camera. Really want either a decent rangefinder or something like a Ricoh Gr1 (just dont want to spend $500 on something that will break...)

A lot of people have suggested the Olympus XA and idk the shutter kinda just turns me off.

Any suggestions?

Why are all of you obsessed with only photographing women you have no chance with? I understand that people are drawn to take photos of things that are easy on the eyes but, how is that only limited to your personal sexual preference? Isn't that more porno collection than photography?
I'm generally curious. Do faces and bodies in general not capture your attention?

Finally got a chance to go out with my new XT3 today and, having moved away from a Pentax, I'm quite thrilled with it. One thing I did find interesting is that I didn't feel quite as much need to edit in LR when I got home. Most of the shots looked great, in my opinion, to begin with and I felt that they didn't require nearly as much editing as shots that I'd taken with my Pentax in the past.
I'll be posting some shots here, feel free to be as harsh as you'd like, I always enjoy constructive criticism and feedback.

/vid/ - Video General

vid gen lvt
2019 Edition
>STICKY - https://pastebin.com/8genEgUy
>Helpful guide and additional books - https://pastebin.com/kG0gRmTZ

Here we discuss techniques, gear and anything else related to capturing video footage. Please don't pretend to be an expert if you don't know what you're talking about. Kindly leave your ego at the door.
Posting short films/scripts or other work you've done is encouraged.
We tend to use and recommend DSLRs/mirrorless cameras because they provide phenomenal picture quality for their price, have large sensors (ie the same size used in high-end cinema cameras and higher) and have interchangeable lenses.
In contrast, consumer camcorders normally have much smaller sensors and a fixed lens.

>NO ONE CARES WHAT AN EXPERT YOU THINK YOU ARE. IF YOU’RE ASKING BASIC-AS-SHIT QUESTIONS, YOU CAN’T BE ALL THAT GREAT. SEE ABOVE

Previous thread >>3411737
So, how’s 2019 shaping up so far?

FAQS
>what’s the best camera available on a “budget”?
The new blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k, by a considerable margin
>>what’s a good beginner video camera?
Buy a used canon m50
>Can I use a zoom lens for video?
Yes
>Do I need cine lenses?
No
>Where can I find a good 4k lens?
Anywhere. Your stills have a much higher resolution than 4k. 4k lenses are a meme
>Do I need 4k?
No. It will make your footage look sharper if it’s in focus, and it gives you breathing room in post. But 1080p is still absolutely fine

CCD vs CMOS sensor

CCD-vs-CMOS-sensors
I bought an old ass Nikon with CCD sensor.
And to my surprise it made more pleasing images than my a lot newer 24 megapixel CMOS sensor Nikon.

The newer camera is absolutely more sharper. But the colors aren't that great when compared to the older camera.

I tried to mess around with the nex files to get the same result but it wouldn't deliver.

Wtf? I thought newer was always going to be better.

D7200 v D7500
Trying to upgrade from a Nikon D3100 since it's limiting my shots, has trouble reading newer cards / telephoto lenses, and starting to fall apart after years of use. I'm stuck between the D7200 and the D7500.

I can grab a D7200 new for $700, but for $150 more I can grab a certified refurbished D7500.

Anyone who's used either, what would you recommend? Everyone tells me they're basically the same or 1 has the edge over the other.

I'm mainly shooting birds / wildlife, and I'm starting to do other things like portraits, landscapes, and moon stuff.

I got a leica 2, and I am looking for some different m39 threaded lenses to try out. I have an Industar 22 and an exceptionally good Jupiter 61 (both soviet "leica" lenses), and would like to know the verdict on the Czech version before putting any money down. Also open to suggestions for other low-budget leica-style lenses to use as well.

I was thinking about selling my a6000 and buying an a6400. I have used the a6000 for 3,5 years now. I like quite a few things about the camera.

>weather sealed
>flip up screen might be a meme but seems pretty cool to use while traveling
>updated sensor and processor
>autofocus at 0,02 instead of 0,06 makes it better for wildlife
>real eye af tracking
>4k video and better video in general
>silent shooting which i think pretty cool, i hate the klack klack klack and you can stealth shoot in places where they forbid you to like museums or churches
>better battery life and no more overheating issue in 4k
>meme features like intervalometer, bluetooth and extra styles that will come in handy for sure
>not too expensive

Missing ibis of course and the a6700 will have that but for sure will be in the range of $1500 and up

Should I buy it? My only worry is that the camera will be $100-200 off after a month.

Sony Alpha 7 mark 1

QUESTION:

I wanna get a fullframe camera, but dont wanna spend more than 2k as i dont make a living with photography anymore.

I stumbled upon the Sony alpha 7 mark 1 which i can get for crazy cheap, 700$ with the kit 28-70

Is the alpha 7 mark 1 still worth buying in 2019 or is the tech just outdated. This would be my first mirrorless, i used to shoot on the 5D mark 1 and i loved it.

Kodachrome developing?

Kodachrome_box
Hey, I was buying random shit in a thrift store and came across a Retina1a with finished roll of Kodachrome stuck inside. Owner of the store said I could keep it, and said that it's been there forever.

Took it to get developed and discovered it was impossible, as processing for it ceased in 2010. I don't have any experience developing in a darkroom, and it's apparently very complicated to do.

Where can I get this processed?

I need help. I just stumbled across an instagram thot model, she agreed to meet up for a shoot and she's asking what kind of shoot and where. I've never worked with a model besides snapshits of my friends, so I really have no idea what to say. I'm thinking of a nature setting since it's easily accessible and pretty etc. but what else do I do? What does she expect from me as a "photographer"? Do I tell her what kind of clothes to wear? I want to avoid sperging out at all costs

Olympus om-10 mark iii optimization

image
So I just bought my first m43 camera and I have to say the ez 14-42mm kit lens sucks. It is decently sharp when shooting at good sunlight but its terrible in low light. I know it isn't the smartest thing to purchase a small sensor camera when your objective is shooting in low light but It was the best value camera I could find for the price. So I'm trying to compensate for the camera body with a better lens and maybe other equipment. Any tips on getting the most out of this camera in low light?

>I was gobsmacked that he never tried to escalate or exploit that amount of beauty constantly gravitating around him. The man regularly takes pictures of amazing girls in lingerie or naked and never made a move or banged one.

>He has no idea of his potential worth and does not feel that he is entitled to plow those girls. That is why his dick stays parked in his boxers when he photographs naked beautiful women. What a waste of material and a hopeless beta attitude.

>Get a second-hand camera with a lens on Craigslist or Gumtree. You do not need a professional one that costs a large amount of money. You only need it to “look” professional.

>Get business cards printed on websites like this one. Costs around $10 for a hundred of them. That will get you started. You don’t even have to put your real name, you can just use your platform’s name.

>Dress well so it sends a “wealthy but casual” look: nice shoes and watch but dressed for the weather. You have to distance yourself from the “creep” image by being outrageously confident.

Is the 6D mark ii as shit as everybody says it is? I’m in the market for a new full frame and it seems to be good for what I will use it for. Mostly pet photography and portraits. I don’t care about the video junk, I’m not gonna use it. Does anybody own it or have any other recommendations? I don’t wanna spend all my money on it if it’s gonna be crap.

Is there a more affordable compact alternative to the contax t2 for casual portraits on 35mm? I’ve used a few, like the XA2 which had a mushy shutter button and the mju ii which has a very unflattering flash I believe due to the proximity to the lens. I shot a few rolls on my friend’s t2 and I loved every photo I shot of them and even the portraits with the flash looked really appealing but I don’t know if there’s a way to get this without spending a thousand on a basically unrepairable camera.

recently had an issue one night where the EVF of my x100t gets all fucky and only has about 50% transparency in the viewfinder, meaning i can 50% see the evf and then the rest i see through the viewfinder as it normally comes up. there’s also this small little square in the bottom corner as if it’s the split ovf/evf even when it’s turned off.

has anyone had this issue or something similar? any fixes? the ovf works fine but not having the evf is a real kick in the ass

Morning /p/,

It's been a good while since I've made a thread and have quite a bit of random stuff to share. Just developed 50 sheets of E6 too so I need to work on some of those as well. My drum scanning backlog of C41 is ridiculous right now and since I'm actually around town the next few weeks I might try to work on some of it. Most of this stuff ranges from September to now.

First one is Velvia 50

So how are you guys explaining to your models to make them do the dtf face?

Do you just tell them to emote desire, or what do you say?

I feel like im getting them half sexy but they are not fully 100% feeling it.

Also if anybody knows any books or ebooks or anything i can look up on the topic?

hey /p/ i have a problem
so i have camera and its fixed lens has a natural blury image at every distance
but when i try a few small lens i have liying around the image becomes focused and i can see,
so thats some good news that the cam is not broken or dirty so what i am looking for is if anyone can help out with
does anyone know if there is a 20mm diameter sized lens that i can place ontop that could replcate a 2.1mm cam lens effect
this project is for a small old cam i have and i cannot take apart the lens it has built into it
hoestly if any one could hep i would greatly appreciated it, ive even thought of trying phone camera lens but non seem to be 20mm diameter
