Anything better than this piece of shit?

qbittorrent download (18)
The major issue with qbittorrent is when you download a very large torrent with tons of folders inside and you only want a few ones.

This piece of shit will create the entire folder tree regardless of the folders you select. It just makes a big mess to find what you really downloaded.

Specially when the folders have japanese characters and there is no way to tell in windows easily which folder has more than 0 bytes or not.

Mobile phone options

What is the best phone at various price points? I don’t know shit about phones becaus I’ve never really thought it mattered. They make calls, sends texts, take photos and browse the web. What’s the difference between a $250 Asus phone and a >$1k iPhone?

But my iPhone 5S is on its last legs and now I’m in the market? What is the best phone, generally, at every $100 price bracket?

I take a fuck tonne of photos, so I’d like a lot of storage and a decent camera, for when I don’t have my mirrorless on me.

Conveniences we've lost

This is a thread for talking about various conveniences we used to have but no longer do.

One of the biggest for me is programs for managing offline browsing of BBSs with things like QWK, or in UseNet something like slrnpull, which allows for you to pull down new posts and push up new posts, with unread ones being highlighted. You could run the script, wait a few moments, then have everything new waiting for you. No browsing around, no bookmarks and tabs, just a lot of time saved. Even RSS feeds are a long way removed from such a convenient and time-saving system.

Another would be downloads. Once they were regular links, meaning you could stick them all in your download manager; now they're JS links that if you do paste the "download link" in to a manager it will just download the file that links to the file you actually wanted.

How realistic is it that artificial intelligence

could one day take a page of your writing and find every comment you ever made on reddit or 4chan? A lot of people, myself included, would be fucked. There's already AI authorship software that can detect a person's writing to 85-90% apparently. The only technical hurdle would be then searching through every possible post on reddit or 4chan

Custom router thread?

Currently running OpenBSD (latest).

Default block policy (allow ntp and https).
Automatically updated IP blacklists (hourly).
Snort IDS.
Blocking all unencrypted HTTP traffic.
Using dnscrypt to ensure encrypted DNS requests.
Email alerts for blacklisted IP communications and IDS.
Alerts to ensure IDS and blacklist downloader running OK.

Can't think of anything else to add right now, other than separate VLAN for WiFi in case some faggot cracks my WPA2.

Having fun with false positives, marking them in snort. Got a few false IP alerts for torrenting, that was fun, was worried I had a virus.

I have a question regarding pic related:
That's Linux on dex a feature that allows your phone to turn into a computer.
I tried to run FFMPEG to convert a video from the phone into a webm.
And tried the same on termux.

Now, why termux is faster? And not by a margin, but by alot...
(Linux on dex uses Ubuntu 16.04 custom)

Do you just use a browser or a application to browse and manage 4chan posts?
Any good recommendations on Linux 4chan Post Management?
1 images | 26 replies

The glaring abuse of standard units and unit prefixes must be intervened with.

Kilobyte = 1000 Byte

Kibibyte = 1024 Byte

Kelvin Byte doesn't make any sense.

Doesn't make any sense. "gram barn"? Please write "GB" (1 billion byte) or "GiB" (2^30 byte).

Ambiguous. The symbol for the bit is 'bit'. Better write "kilobit".

Furthermore, please remember, division is indicated by a horizontal line, by a solidus (oblique stroke, /) or by negative exponents (i.e.: not a 'p').
Due to 4channel's limitations, the only option available here is the solidus, for example:
5 megabit/s.
